I am looking to get a car cover. I am looking at Noah for $187.00 and the latest and greatest outdoor cover, Weather Sheild, for $315.00. Does anyone have these and how do like it?

It probably is silly to go through all the detailing and then cover it up, but on the other hand my hard work will last longer:) Living on the slopes and Mauna Loa with the valcano on the other side of me, I get a fair amount of acid rain. The Weather Sheild I understand is suppose to be treated for this.

I have a WeatherShield cover and to be honest I was disappointed in it. It is NOT as waterproof as they say, with a moderate rain fall I sometimes get water under the cover. :down

One of good points though is that it's very light, so it's easy to carry and store.

I got my cover for a rather large car (Lincoln Town Car) and it costs me almost $400, so for that kind of $$$ I think it should do a better job at keeping water out. One of our fellow Senior Autopians, Darbh, also has this same cover and was not totally happy with it considering what it cost.

Sorry if it sound like I am dumping on the WeatherShield, I just want to be honest.

I have used Stormweave covers from California Car Covers for a number of years on a number of trucks and cars. I store some of my vehicles outside under these covers and they were subjected to some serious winter weather for 4 to 5 months here in Canada. They usually cost about $160.00 US. I polish and wax the vehicle before I store it and in the spring I just take the cover off and all that has to be done is a quick detail - the cover did its job. I obviously would highly recommend you consider one of these covers. They can be a little bulky if on a full size truck but on a mid size car - no problem so daily use, like you would use it is, on and off, is easy. Since they are custom cut for each application they fit like a glove and never blow off or shift on the car. For what is worth. MTS

I bought the factory cover for the WRX. Found it online for $82 plus shipping - this price included a cloth storage bag. I'm about as satisfied with with the cover, for the same reasons, as ShowroomLincoln. Might want to check into this option as you may find it offers considerable value

I have the Noah cover. I like it but its not waterproof. I know they say it lets moisture that gets under the cover escape but that's not going to happen in cold weather. I have used it in snow storms a few times and it's good for keeping your car ice free.

I have a Noah cover and really like it. It is the best bang for the buck out there in terms of protecting against: heat, dust, water, ice, etc... Very little water manages to find its way under this cover. Laters

I have a Noah cover as well. I really like it. I used to travel a lot and I'd put the cover on in the airport parking lot. Remember the Tornado in Salt Lake City in Aug of 99? There was so much wind and rain it was unbelievable. I was in Vegas and didn't even hear about the Tornado untill we were flying into Salt Lake the day after the storm. My car was still dry under the cover and there was no problem to be seen. Right before the rain there was a huge dust storm apparantly because the other cars in the lot that were there durring the storm were pretty messed up. You know how bad a car looks when it rains on it after a dust storm. I drove my car out of the lot looking as good as when I drove it in. :) :up

I have owned both (actually, I did not own a Noah, but the Evolution product made by the same company, which actually costs more than the Noah). I currently use the WeatherShield. My experience matches Showroom's. I like the light weight and lack of bulk, but, if you need to stop water, this cover is not the one. In So Cal, it is not such a big issue -- though I wish it lived up to its promo for the few times when it does rain. Also, I have notice that heavy dew will go through a bit, or, perhaps it is dew forming UNDER the cover. Oh, the cover is not good in the wind. Not often a problem in So Cal, but when it does blow, I have had the cover come over because of its light weight.

You've put money away for several years, you have a huge amount of cash to put down in order to make easy payments. Which of these three would you buy?

-The C6Z06 - brand new or nearly for ~70k

-The Aston Martin V8 Vantage - a year or two old, but with super low mileage for about 70-80k

-The Lamborghini Gallardo - also a year or two old with super low mileage, saving up for an extra year or two, and paying 90-100k

These are your choices. Tell me which one and why.
Here are some pics to help you choose... And they just happen to be in the colors I'd buy ;)

These are very different cars in every way. All awesome. All deliver alot of WOW. The Lambo and AM will keep rocking you wallet year after year with service costs while the vette will not to any large extent. Same for insurance.

If your looking for a DD, I would drop the lambo. I have never driven one but i have been a passenger. close to zero storage. Your not going on vacation with this baby or even to the golf course with a full set of clubs. Very hard to meaneauver at low speeds, in traffic and tight lots on any type of regular basis. The Lambo was made to run free.

The AM is a livingroom on wheels. Best fit and finish of the 3 from my very limited experience. Lots of Snob appeal. Also never driven but have been a passenger in a V8. It is very well done sport GT you would never feel comfortable beating on by pushng it to its limits. it a civilized GT sportscar that is cabable but I think it is best suited for someoene who is not looking to drive a sportscar at its limitts. Decent storage and yu cvan actually go away with rthe Mrs. for a weekend and have space to bring home some souveniers for the kids.

The corvette is a street legal racecar. These have gotten packed with great technology and the new ones are actually very comfortable in most driving situations (except snow). Little storage. Best bang for the buck in my opinion of the 3 you listed. Lostest cost to operate i would also guess. Very high fun factor. becasuse it more of a normal car in terms of service and insurance you maty use it more (read enjoy it on a regular basis) so it get extra points in my book.

In conclusion, if I was looking for a DD and the operating cost did not spook me i go AM, If I have great DD and was looking for a GQ, I'd get the lambo. If I needed to drive it everyday and I don't want to shread $$, I get the vette.

These are just personal opionions and if you are really considering these rides, I would thing the lambo would cost more than what you listed it at even at 2 years old. I would throw the M3 into the competition with the vette and the 911 CS4 into competition with the used lambo if in fact the numbers are right on the Lambo. To me the 911 is just more drivable.

For $70K:

Not a Vette unless it's a ZR-1. And then, it's still a Vette. Dime a dozen.

Not a AM unless it's a DB-9 (maybe??) - perfect woman's car that doesn't do anything for me. Not really fast or exotic. Just very well refined with a very old/dull look. Blah, blah, blah...

Lambo - YES! I wouldn't/couldn't drive it everyday due to maintenance concerns. Drop dead whollier that thou magnetic looks from everyone. Eye candy on wheels.

Other options: totally tuned out 911 Turbo. Very practical, fast as hell, nice looks...fun! I highly suggest driving one.

You're no fun Flash! How dare you substituting fun at a young age with a stable retirement. The kid's gotta live a little.

None of the above. I would invest my 70k instead in Stocks and Mutual Funds :-B

Car's like this are should not be purchased until all other obligations are satisfied beyond a doubt. Until then there are lots of cars that pack a high fun factor on a budget price. Think pre owned Mustangs, RX* and certian vettes

I am driving around in a crappy little Corolla, and you are looking at a Vette, Astin Martin, and a Lambo?

I just can't comment.....
