So...you're going to buy a hot car...

911 Turbo. AWD, plenty of power, great looks, timeless design, nice materials and fit/finish, and likely a car I'll never actually get tired of.

Some of the responses leave me scratching my head.

I'm sure everyone can think of other cars they would rather have or other things they might do with 70k, but the OP is looking for opinions on these three, so I will give you my opinion on the 3 you are contemplating and reasons for them.

1. I'd pick the Lambo. Easy choice in fact and Todd points out something I didn't even contemplate (depreciation), but for me the Lambo get the nod just for the sake of being the most unique, eye catching and out of the ordinary.

2. Second is the Aston Marton. Looks nice, performs well and not something you see everyday either.

3. The Vette. I'm not a "Vette-Guy" and frankly I wouldn't know the difference from one to another and I would gather to most, a Vette is just a Vette (even though that is CLEARLY not true).

So, good on you that you can afford such luxuries!!! Send us some pics when you pick any of those beasts!!!

LOL I will post pics as soon as it hits the driveway, which should be no sooner than 15 years from now ;)

I was in, kind of, your shoes a little bit ago. I ended up with a 996TT (which is what led me down the detailing road).

996TT: unbelievable bargain at current market prices. engine is super strong and very easily modifiable. For $70k, you could have 700-800+ hp.

I considered Ferrari 360, Nissan GT-R, 997. Lambo's are too flashy. Aston's are a little too "quirky"/uncommon.

Porsche's are bullet proof (as far as cars in this category go). Not as flashy as the others and a bit common, but there's a reason why so many people buy them. Supercar performance with daily driver reliability. I've had 2 other Porsches, and they were both solid cars.

Ferrari's are.. well, Ferrari's. Everyone wants one. No one wants to pay the maintain them ;P I talked to quite a few Ferrari owners and the common message was that Ferrari has the reliability down starting with the 360's, but it's basically drive, drive, drive $10k, drive, drive, drive, $10k, repeat until you're out of money.

Nissan GT-R. This is the big unknown. Insane performance, but unknown long term reliability and maintenance. Too many used ones with less than 10k miles made me wonder if either ppl who buy them don't realize the long term costs of ownership or they just don't like them.

Either way, when you factor is cost of long term maintenance and depreciation, I felt the 996TT was by far the best economically.

I think the real question for you is whether money is an issue in your decision. If you say 'f the money and just want something awesome, get the Lambo. Or if you want a more GT/usable car, then the Aston. If money is an issue, then it's the 'Vette. Drive all three and buy the one you like the most - the worst that will happen is that you'll loose alot of money ;)

JoeinLA hit the naill on the head. A 700hp Turbo Porsche is a monster that will be beating up on most street bikes.

Would be a fun car for sure, but ultimate horsepower wasn't the goal of any of the 3 cars. More all-around fun with a healthy dose of power, and completely driveable.

Car choices are totally individual (of course). So which one are you leading towards and why?

True. I own a 600+ hp car and know that that much power can be finicky and those cars have "moods". So not always a car you wanna take out.

I'm very torn between the Aston and the Vette. The Z06 just looks great and with 195mph top speed its no slouch... Super reliable and I've always been a chevy guy... But the Aston has to be one of the best looking cars out there. Its just a work of art IMO. And they sound absolutely amazing in person. So its a hard choice. A choice I probably won't have to make for a long time so I guess I have lots fo time to mull it over lol.
