So Much Dust -- It's getting old

Hopefully you guys can help me on this one. And I hope this topic hasn't been beaten to death :D

I did the following last weekend:

NXT Wash
Mother's Claybar
SSR2.5 with PC*
PwC blue with PC*
Two layers Meguiars NXT Paste Wax*

*applied with PC / removed by hand

No more than 2 days later my car is covered in dust. Now I figure spring must be prone to dust and pollen, but there is a ton of dust on my car. I wipe it all off before work in the morning (8 am) - yes it's garaged - and by the time I get off work (5 pm) it's covered in dust again. IS this possibly the NXT paste wax? Has anyone had experience with this product and a dust problem? What is a good product or a good wax that repels or keeps dust away from your paint? How is Natty's Blue?

It's the time of year and this year seems to be worse than others for me here in Erie, PA. I have used Megs 21, Natty blue, reg. Natty and collinite and they all have colledted dust. Have the time I can wash the car for a detail and then do the interior by time I'm done the exterior is covered in Pollen and I'm working in the garage with the door up. I haven't found anything that kills the static charge yet. If you find one let me know.

I was thinking the pollen and this time of year was the major problem. I'm in the same boat as you - I work in the garage with the door up. I finish hoping to stand back and be in awe, but I end up being frustrated with all the dust that has accumulated.

I'll let you know if I find something that works. You do the same. :D

Get yourself some PB S&W and a CA Duster use the duster then use the S&W to clean with a MF towel....I always follow that with FK1 anti-static QD spray and that seems to help...however its a daily battle for me I have a black car

So do you have to use all of these products or does the FK1 anti-static QD keep the dust away?

By the way what is a CA Duster -- sorry.

The Duster is to remove most of the dust that has settled on the car....in some cases I stop there...the S&W will remove the rest and give the car a just washed look....the FK1 anti-static quick detailer spray helps to keep the dust from collecting but there is little that I have found that really keeps dust off a car.

here is what a Duster looks like

I had the California Car Duster, but I didn't like how dirty it got and the fact that it couldn't be washed. I saw a thread Jngrbrdman started about the Zwipes Microfiber Magna Duster, so I picked one up. http://www.detailcity.org/forums/de...-may-have-lost-his-mind.html?highlight=zwipes

It has worked pretty well so far and I like it for the reasons Jngr posted in his thread.

The dirtier it gets, the better it works! No really. People have some CCDs for 20 something years and still work great. This really cuts down the time for cleaning dust off vehicles.

Well mine was still getting dust off the car, I just don't like rubbing old dust/dirt across the paint without any lube.

wow, you can go two whole days without dust on your car?

This time of year, I can QD my car at night, go to bed, and when I go back out to the garage in the morning it's got visible pollen on it. Even worse when I come out from work...

Cal. Car Duster works great for me.

As Jared confirmed and as Beemerboy pointed out the process is an everyday occurance. Using the products mentioned will help take care of your vehicle. There is only one way to battle dust. Take it off .....Everyday!

I'm new to car detailing but the pollen's been bugging me so much.

When it first started, I blamed my mom for driving to the airport after I just had the car washed. (I presumed she had to go on some unpaved road of some sort. She told me travelled on no such thing.

Today I was in the garage getting all my stuff together to do a wash, and I looked outside, and you could see visible pollen in the wind. It was disgusting.

I washed the car but by the time I was done there was already a thin layer of pollen settled. I will look for a CCD, but I have not seen one at Canadian Tire, I'll look at Auto Parts when I get a chance.

I to hate the pollen that gets on your car all spring. Not much you can do
about it except cover your car or leave it in the garage. One product I have
been looking at and wondering if it works though is the Finish Kares anti
static products. They make several products that are noted by a lightning
rod that are supposed to be anti static. Any one have info on this and
how good it works? Look at their web site and their products to see the
anti static ones noted with the lightning rod. I know Greg Cavi uses some
of their products and hope he will chime in on this thread about his obsevations.

Ughh. Brown & yellow pollen on water spots this morning.
Then dust from nearby construction.
Was going to wash, but my worker quit and I was busy doing only above average work on cars.
No wash. Pollen day 2.

Completely with you on this. I have a black lexus and I can scratch it with a mircofiber immediately after a wash unless I have some lube on it. Can't touch it the next day even with lube. I either have to wash it, live with it or chase fine scratches with the DA.
