So I Think the Dealership Washed My Car!

Well if they washed it, you are to blame. Unless you request otherwise, most dealers will wash your car when it comes in for service.

I strongly disagree. A dealership has never washed my car during a service trip. I don't think it is common enough to suggest that it is someone's fault for assuming they won't wash it.

I put a big sign in our minivan windsheeld that said "please, DO NOT WASH." and they did any way, leaving waterspots all over the car. they said almost exactly:

"Sorry about that sir, we'll give you a complimentary car wash as our way of saying thanks for your business" :grinno:
I was like, WHAT??? :hairpull

taking a firearm with you usually helps instill into the service writer's mind that if you ask them specifically to do (or not do) somthing, they will usually listen. . . eehehehe, of coarse, its much eaiser to to if your a police officer, or have a CCW.

Was that to extreme?

The way I look at it, if you do not want other people washing your car, then why dont you do all the work to the car yourself and not have some idiot at the dealer work on it? No one EVER touches my jeep but me. No one EVER washes my jeep but me. This way no one EVER screws anything up.. If you want it done right, do it yourself. If you put yourself or your car in a position where people can do things to it, then they will..:goodjob :woohoo:

Sometimes you really can't avoid it. Sometimes there are things that the dealer needs to diagnose or fix (like warranty work), or maybe there's a recall.

That is true.. I actually avoid warranty work also. My jeep was under a recall and was under warranty.. The balljoints were the part that was under a recall and I went ahead and replaced them myself..

I guess I shouldnt of said that. Some people really do not know how to work on a car.. :nixweiss

heh, yes, that is very true. A sad day indeed when an Autopian has to consider doing warranty work him/herself because of the risk of damage from an uncaring technician..
