With the whole Frankenwax thread from the past month, and my own natural curiosity I gathered up a few raw ingredients consisting of:

Carnauba wax

Propolis

Sunflower oil

Linseed Oil

Coconut oil

Glycerin

Hydorgen Peroxide



I have a friend who has made various waxes in the past, so he had passed on a few recipes to me to try out, and experiment with, I'll keep you all in the loop. But my current Carnauba Wax to Propolis (beeswax) ratio is roughly 58% right now (carnauba content).



I'm naturally curious so this should settle a lot of things for me

Thanks, currently it looks like it's all natural ingredients, I want to try working with some silicones, and maybe make a liquid wax or a cream. But I definitelty would love to see the results in this creation first.

With a bit of research or testing we could work out what attritubes is provided by each ingredient.



This would definitely help the average person in creating there custom wax.



Say we could start off with a few basic formula and then give basic limits on how much extra or less of each ingredient can used to create the wax.



Say more oils and bee's wax gives a soft WOWO wax and makes it easier to spread. If we know the attributes oit would help alot :)
 
What I've found in this:



My overall Carnauba weight (total weight of carnauba vs the compound, is 31%)

Carnauba vs other waxes (Carnauba weight vs other waxes, 60.5%)



Coconut oil, leaves a nice wet finish, but is definitely not capable of being the primary carrier/drying oil since it leaves off way to greasey of a finish, and never seems to dry, so I had to limit it's usage.



Sunflower oil is quite reflective by nature, it did not work well as a primary carrier, but it seems the reflectivity went up and down depending on how much sunflower oil I had used.



Linseed oil, hit the nail on the head. It spread the mixture quite well over the surface, but also buffed off very well, leaving nothing behind, but the bonded compound. This was the best natural solvent I could come across.



The beeswax content helped soften up the carnauba some, so I could add more content to it, I also noticed my beading/repellancy to go up/down depending on the mixture of adding the white beeswax.
 
the frankenwax thread was people melting down premade waxes and mixing them... not the best ideas for the top results. But I've been following a lot high end wax threads, and thats where my curiosity came about.



I don't recommend trying this, unless you know the flash points etc of these ingredients, what I didnt show is how the ingredients were mixed, temperatures etc

Carnauba Bleaching, that and Ivory soap. The "complicated" refinement process is nothing more than mixing carnauba, with peroxide, and adding some soap, then collecting the mixture at the top, which is your "refined" carnauba.
