So I sold the SI and picked up a beater 56K *no way*

Accumulator always tells us that SS white is the hardest paint due to the titanium dioxide pigment.

I totally agree with that comment. The white on my old car is very hard to polish out. The two new cars can almost seem like a walk in the park comparitively. On the other hand, it may be what has kept it looking good so long. Not a great picture, but you get the idea. It has about 150K on it now and I still drive it a few times a week.

Holy turnaround Batman!

You weren't kidding about "chalky white". That car looks better than new now!

Those huge jobs can be a lot of fun, as I'm sure you can attest. I think breaking the job up over time works better and I think the previous owner would fall over if they saw what you've done in 2 weeks :).

That's a dramatic improvement! Great job and congratulations!!

I'm definitely interested in hearing more about the Spray Way undercoating...

P.S. Get some tint on that thing! :D

It's just the standard spray way aerosol rubberized undercoating. I have found it to be *very* durable and looks just like factory installed undercoating (probably the same thing). I have done this on all of my cars and the results are always great, the wheel wells dry to a satin black finish that needs no dressing to keep the "like new look." I am pretty sure TOL sells it, if not hit me up--I can get you a can or three. :D FWIW, you will probably need two cans for the average car.

jnmttu, amn that accord is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Sean, yes breaking it up helps, but the anticipation kills me. :D

Thanks everyone!!

Thanks for the compliment. The person who owned it before me was almost as obsessive as me. I had nowhere near the turnaround that you achieved there. That wagon looks like a different car. You really couldn't pick a better beater. The 4th generation Accord's are almost bulletproof.

That undercoating you used really does make the wells look new again. The stuff Honda uses as undercoating is by far the weakest I have seen from any manufacturer.

Well Joe, I think you found a new wheel well coating for the guys who slop on Mop N Glo because they can no longer can get Engine Kote. If guys do a quick Google search, there are a handful of places that sell it.

That buffing job is just amazing! Totally killer. Do you have a paint thickness gauge to see how much dead paint you removed (if it could be measured at all)?

I'm a huge fan of #38. Did you clean the white stained trim before application? If the white comes back after the #38 comes off, I have had great success with Back to Black trim dye on my 10 year old Honda.

I like the shot of the radio. Howard must be crazy to listen to on satellite. I didn't spring for it (yet).

Again, excellent, excellent buffing work. Truly remarkable. Nice achievement.

Thanks man, I don't have PTG yet, but boy I need to spring for one. I *almost* went through on the hood of this sucker, not that it would have been a tragedy. :) On the hood, near the edge, where the raised portion is, the paint is *very* then....now. :)

I forgot to list in the process that I used #39 with a small boars hair brush on the trim/roof rack. That stuff basically emulsified the wax and turned it into a grayish white liquid that eaily washed away. I then restained in a couple places when buffing (ran out of tape on the last section ;) ).

I *love* having Howard on satellite!!! IMO, it's not much different that when he was on TR, just less breaks and the occasional F bomb. :) The content is still there, highly recommended if you are a fan.

Haha nice. I must say I liked the styling of the Si better! But it looks damn good. You won't see any other old Accord wagons looking like that. :xyxthumbs

WOW! That ain't no beater! Don't you wish the person you just bought it from could see it now? Excellent, excellent, excellent.

Wow I can't believe that the wagon didn't have rust on it or anything.

Great job, it looks amazing!

Yeah I was about to comment that. Over here in NYC w/those '90's wagon/sedan. I can see rust fomring on the gas cap area(rear qtr panel). Anyways, thats one clean arse ride.

Good job!!

LOL, honestly, he could see it right now and would have no idea that I buffed it for 10+ hours. :) Trust me, "glorious absence of sophistication" hits him dead on the head. :D

Jeez what a turnaround! I love those accords...my buddy just got a 92 Sedan 5 speed for 2K...it turns on and runs like NEW...what an incredible car. Awesome job once again.

Excellent turnaround! Will you add anything on top of #26?

When working on the roof rack which looked very oxidized, how many applicators did you go through? I hate those when cleaning them on some older cars.

I just "cut the top with the rotary and a spot buff kit, then I used the polishing steps via the PC, I finally finished off with AIO, then #26. MAn, it *was* a PITA though, I hate them as well. If time would have allowed, I wouild have removed it.

EDIT** Or did you mean while cleaning/dressing the rack itself?

I don't typically top #26, but I guess since I am using a carnauba that I will add a weekly "coat" of OCW. LOL, with OCW and a weekly wash I could probably not touch this sucker for a year, but I will--out of boredom. :D

Thanks everyone!!!!

Wow! Awesome results, thing looks a couple months old now. Amazing. Those BFGs are good tires too. I'd say for $262 you got a great deal.
