So I sold my 2500hd & Got a Z71 Tahoe LT3

The title pretty much says it all.

My wife and I got into a mess this past weekend. We ended up at a Nissan dealer and got talked into a Nissan Pathfinder "S". We drove it home, and she then decides she does not like it.

The next day my wheels are rolling as I'm fuming. I go go gmsupplierdiscount.com and find an 08 Tahoe Z71 LT3 loaded about 30 miles from here. We drive down to look at it, agreed on it, drove back to the local dealer I used to work for.

Bottom line I traded the Nissan and my 07 Classic 2500hd Sierra Classic 4wd for the Tahoe.

I never thought the day would come that I would get rid of the truck. With our frequent trips to North GA the long ride gets uncomfortable.

I lost around $2500 on the GMC to my payoff. $800 loss on the Nissan. With the $6000 rebate and the GM supplier discount and a bit over $1000 on the GM card.

With the savings in the fuel alone will be close to $200/month, and my insurance went down $100 / month.

I have never been a Chevy fan, but I absolutely love the new front ends on their SUV's and Trucks.

Nice choice.:hifive:

I agree. I've always been more partial to the GMC line, this go-around I think the Chevrolet nose looks much better.

I think with the GMC they stretched it out a bit too much. Almost like they copied the envoy front end for the Yukon.

The new Chevy trucks look great. When I read that you are saving fuel when buying a Tahoe I thought it sounded strange. But then I saw the pics of the old truck :)

What kind of MPG did you get with that one?

With the GMC I was getting around 6.5-8.5 MPG according to the Info center on the dash. Correct that by 13.7% for the larger size tires (13.7% larger than stock) gives me a real-world around 7.3 - 9.6. It was usually closer to 7.5-8.0mpg.

The interstate @ 70 mph I was getting 10.5 corrected. If I slowed down to 55mph and with the tailgate down I could easily get 14mpg.

Keep in mind that's with the BFG All terrains. When the MTZ mud tires were on there it was much worse. City driving was around 7.0 average and hwy was around 9.1 average if memory serves me right.

I'm anxious to see what the Tahoe will give me once it's broken in. I've gone around 75 miles with it and it just moved a tick off of the "Full" line. 75 miles in the GMC would be around 1/4 tank.

Love the truck and tahoe. I see you like to play it safe by getting white vehicles. lol. Smart man.

Yes Sir. I made the mistake of getting a Black Grand Am in 2000 thinking it would be "easy" to keep clean. Boy was I wrong.

It looks like crap and is just too hard to keep up.

wow that is awesome mileage for an SUV. 75 miles and not even a 1/4 of the way down?

No lie. It has active fuel management which lets the vehicle run in 4cyl mode while cruising or at stop lights. You don't feel it switch between 4cyl and 8cyl. You do notice the increase in your fuel mileage though.

Sorry to see the truck go, mighty fine vehicle! It sucks when you have to take a step down, but it's usually for a good reason. Have fun with the Tahoe!

That a boy you were just like us trying to help GM out and stimulate the economy!

Just picked this guy up 2 weeks ago. Now has 1000 miles on it. $17,900 is a STEAL for a 2500HD with the 6.0, 6 speed auto trans, tow package, built in factory trailer brake controller, 5th wheel and good neck provisions. I think the new GMC front is on the trucks is MUCHHHHHHHH better looking than the new chevy front end. I absolutely love the front end on the tahoe and suburban though but not the trucks.

Those Tahoes are really nice, but that grill is evil to keep clean. Never figured out why stylists put overly complex grills that are a real pain to clean bugs out of. :nixweiss

As far as the grill, it's nothing that a soft brush can't handle. I usually QD the bugs off after each drive to keep things under control.

My fuel report so far: We have about 110 miles on the odometer and the fuel is half way between the 1/4 and F mark. The HD would be on 1/2 a tank by now with the city driving.

The Info center is reporting 13.0 average, but the "instant fuel economy" area where it shows when it switches to 4cyl mode stays around 16-20 while driving.

The sides on that GMC pickup look very naked IMO. But you made a very good deal, under $ 18.000 wow.

It is a stripped down work truck with work truck options. Sticker price was 26,XXX. We are about to install a line-x bedliner, side steps and maybe a low profile smoke bug shield and tint the side windows. Just a couple things to ofset all the bright white.

Bro your HD was the balz. Did you think of keeping the wheels for the tahoe? Would they fit?

Nice deal on that truck too.

No way a 10" wide wheel would fit on the tahoe without lots of lifting and cutting.

Plus they were 8 lug and I stepped down to a 6 lugger.

I miss the truck but sure don't miss the fuel bill

Looks good, love the HD clean look while looking badass. My dad is a GM fanboy, we all drive GM's, I have a 02 Yukon, he has the 08 Denli, and my mom has a 08 Acadia.

We have a family of gas guzzlers.

Sad to see the truck go (looked like fun!) but I am sure the Tahoe is more practical with today's energy prices. I guess GMT-900 > GMT-800 as well. Nice choice!
