So I just used PO85 for the first time

...and WOW! I had been final step polishing with UNO or DCP with good results (much better with UNO) but never realized what I was missing until using PO85RD on my heavily water spotted roof. I had to do 2 passes with UNO and M105 on a MF pad to get most of it (wasn't going to wet sand the roof of my DD) and then finished with PO85 on a white pad. Anybody else feel that much more capable after trying a new finishing polish?
 
Use what works for you. I've jeweled with 85rd and a red and gold pad.

And now you know how good PO85RD looks !!! I use it with a finishing pad prior to changing LSP's or give a fresh look.
 
The paint on my Acura has been decently hard, so I'm accustomed to going up a pad color or 2 when using foam. But yes, I've always seen it used with red/black (jewelling and finishing) pads. I've also renewed my love for orange foam pads...at least for water spots on my paint :) Otherwise I've been converted to Optimum MF pads in a huge way (much more durable than the Meg's MF pads).

85RD remains a staple in my arsenal and it is currently my most favorite correcting fluid. It does so well on Audi and Mercedes paint. I remember to try it with a black pad for that finale jeweling step. On a polishing pad alone, it finishes out so well.

P.S. - yes I did clean up my polishing dust and apply a dressing to my sunroof and roof rail trim afterwards :tongue2:

I'll try just that. I was always trained to think that the black pad would be too soft for a polish, but as I learned, not 85RD. It may just contribute to that itty bit more of a higher gloss.
 
Negative, just used it on my white pad with a final pass at speed 3 and low pressure and that was good enough for my purposes (DD and it was the roof :P).



Edit: Oops I misread...yeah you could use it on a white pad and follow up on black to help finesse the finish.
 
All these years Ive only been using it on a white pad, then basically straight to LSP. I now have new purpose for my black pads :)
