Not impressed!! At speed 5 (the most commonly recommended) it stops a LOT. Any off center pressure at all and it stops spinning, this makes it really touch to get the edges, though I guess thats thin area you shouldn't be doing by machine?? Anyways wow, amazed at home sensitive it is to stopping, I want a rotary now to learn with argh!

So if I bump the PC XP up to speed 6, it doesn't hardly ever stop spinning with the 5.5" pad on a 5" BP... speed 5, not so much.

Is it OK to run at speed 6? Anything to look out for?

Crank it up to speed 6, make sure your pad is properly primed and hammer down. If you wanted a machine to spin in circles you should have purchased a circular polisher. Just because your PC XP isn't circulating doesn't mean it's not correcting the finish.

Be careful of the backing plate on speed 6. I just blown my lc 5" backing plate today. Fortunately no damage to my paint this time. I've broken 2- 5" lc bp, one 4" lc bp, one 5" 3m bp and now I'm hoping that the meg's 5" bp will last.

The new ones I got from Autogeek look much better, larger thicker washer, and metal backing on the plate instead of an ALL plastic design. I went with a 4" and 5" instead of 6" this time. Hope they hold up!!
