So how should I go about fixing and charging for individual scratches?

Hey guys, now that I have a PC :woot: , I've been playing around with pads and such. I have a customer next Saturday who mentionted he may have some scratches he wants me to repair, so I'm curious how you guys go about that, both as far as products and pricing. Here is what I have in my arsenol:

LC CCS Blue, White, Yellow 5.25" pads

Sonus SFX 2

Zaino Z-PC

Meguiar's Scratch X

I'm thinking I'd either be using MegX on a white (for more superficial scratches) and Sonus SFX 2 (yellow pad) + Zaino ZPC (white pad) for deeper ones. Sound good?

Now how much would I charge for this type of thing?

It's a really tough subject for me as well because one problem I see is that you fix one area the rest of the car looks like crap so how do you go about that? I mean it's too tough to say....

I've seen guys with buffers "spot fix" and charge handsomely many a times.

it might be tough to fix scratches with a PC do you plan on wetsanding as well?

Its a good question though. Though you may be able to fix a scratch fast theres a huge risk in doing so, so thats where the real value is.

If you're actually cutting down the scratch/permantly removing it, think about how much money you're saving someone from having it repainted. When I wet-sand and rub out scratches, I'll charge at least $40-$50 per panel. Are you sure you want to tackle those kind of jobs with a PC? I always used a rotary with a wool pad. It's kinda like bringing a knife to a gun fight.
