Sneek Preview 64 Nova SS, and I need some advice too!

If these are original then they should be anodized trim piece's that are a pain to clean up, that's how they we're made back then. The process of anodizing speeds up the oxidation of elemental aluminum to aluminum oxide, creating a so-called dull grayish surface finish. The advantage of an aluminum oxide coating is that it is much harder than aluminum and it creates a durable protective finish over the metallic aluminum and last for many many yrs. If you try to polish a piece of anodized aluminum trim, you will spend hours getting through that surface layer, remember once this happens, please be very careful because the underlying metallic aluminum is extremely soft. Hope this helps you out.

That was a pain to figure out, but I had questions on that too Eric

The areas around the front, and most of the chrome trim was as Angelo described. The areas that polish corrected for me, was the trim around the windsheild, and that was it.

Yeah, I tried the trim around the windows and they didn't budge for me either. looks like they will be staying anodized.

Looking at some old parts books, 'they' say the trim pieces are stainless steel.

That said, IF they are indeed SS, try a bit of 'Brasso', or maybe 'Nevr-Dull'.

Bill

I would guess that the pieces are stainless steel, which is a very hard metal. I have had great luck using our Blackfire Aluminum Polishing kit on stainless, but if possible, you will want to pull the trim completely before polishing.
