Sneak Peek: New *FINE GRADE* Speedy Surface Prep Towel

As I recall, you use it during an ABC wash, correct? I question whether the towel would be able to hold up to that sort of usage....

With that mix of chemicals I would think it would soften the polymer / rubber and may make it unsuitable for use; considering the affect similar chemicals have on Polybutene (detailers clay), which is more resilient.

I use more aggressive clay (usually Smart Clay) when doing that level of decontamination, use the mild stuff by itself for my usual "clay the LSP clean" type of work.

Actually, I hardly ever do a "real" decomtamination other than the initial cleanup of a newly acquired vehicle.

Which of these is HD Nano Prep equivalent to?

Reading the patent, there seems to be some implication that another product like this exists but the manufacturing steps are more costly. Frankly, the patent doesn't seem to cover the core technology, just the manufacturing process.

Very cool Charlie, I know my guys have gotten about 90 plus cars easily out of the First towel. These towels are great. Im not really sure why one need to use the fine grade, but I the marring issues are the concern. From what we noticed is the marring is not a major issue as we are correcting the paint anyways. We don't get cream puffs here. Can't wait to hear your feedback though!

Gotcha. Yeah, I'd imagine you never need to do a "real" decontamination after the initial cleanup considering your maintenance routines....

I do think it's still kinda weird that I *don't* have to though  I mean, sheesh, I let stuff get awfully nasty between washes; I'm always surprised when I don't have to deal with stuff like rust-blooms after, say...a harsh winter. Oh well, fine by me :D

My understanding of these towels is they are probably best suited for paint that needs to be corrected any way, so if they mar it, so what. I still have a ton of clay to go through and I'm still researching whether some or one of the towels might be safe enough to use on marring free paint perhaps with certain QDs as a lube :nixweiss:

Any update on whether the Fine Grade is substantially different than the "original"? And is anyone selling this towel yet?

I used mine for the first time tonight on a black C6 I will most likely never use clay again. If you are on the fence try it I'm glad I did. Regular grade not fine.

My first impression so far is that the difference is very minimal, but I haven't had any super soft paint to work with yet. I've got a Honda (Acura) scheduled this week that I've worked on before and I know the paint is soft, so it will be the car I use to shoot a video and do a true comparison.

Thanks for the responses guys. The car in question is a black Benz so the softness of the paint shouldn't be an issue and since I intend to polish it afterward I guess I should just order the "original" as I can't see anyone selling the "Fine" and I'd like to get started.
