"Snappy Clean" Pad Cleaner Review

I tried Lake Country Snappy Pad Cleaner for the first time last week. At first, I didnt want to use a product based on a powder for my pads.



I added hot water to a a 5gal bucket, dissolved a Snappy Clean, and dropped in a few pads. (I know the web photos of the Snappy Clean packet make it look like it is the size of a wet-nap. It is not. It is much bigger)



The pads were from Lake Country and in Green, Orange, Black, and Blue.

The pads had Meguiars M105, Menzerna M203s, Menzerna 85rd, and FK100p on them.



The Menzerna and Meguiars products washed completley out of the pads with ease after just 5 minutes of soaking in the bucket.



The FK1000p seemed to remain on the blue pad as it showed beading when I pulled it out of the bucket. I let it soak for another 60 minutes and the beading dramatically decreased. (First time I used these blue pads I bought over a year ago. Excellent for applying LSP, will use them for FK1000 again)



So, would I use this again? - Sure. It worked as advertised.



Do I think it did a better job than a degreaser alone? - Maybe. I might believe this is less harsh on the pads, but pads are cheap anyway.



I have only used this product 3 times now and am a sucker for gimmicks. If there is a product out there to do just "X", I'll try it. Some work, others dont.

Autogeek sells a similar product in bulk, but IIRC it isn't any cheaper that way. I bet we could find a bulk industrial product that is almost identical and would be a lot cheaper, something like this perhaps: Degreaser Orange Concentrate Degreaser or this Citrus Cleaner (Powder) - 13 lbs.

No...but I'm also saying that LC didn't invent anything to clean pads. They went to a company that makes cleaners (or a blender) and said "I want something to break down buffing compounds that have oil-based carriers". I'm saying that those products I linked might do the same job as Snappy Clean. Or maybe not. But the descriptions certainly sound like they might, and they cost about half as much if you use enough to buy a big pail.

So is the citrus concentrate good for microfiber towels also?

5 lbs for $40.00 will last me till 2035. It it cleans microfibers, score....

ive been using oxyclean for the past few months with great results. i spritz the pad with pakshak formulon apc and rinse it under hot water for a second to get the surface gunk loosened then throw it in a bucket of hot water and 2 scoops of oxyclean. then i throw it into a seperate bucket of hot water and pull them out to dry.

its 16 pounds for 15 dollars at costco and i had a coupon 6 months ago so it was only like 10 bucks for 16 pounds. i didnt bother doing the math on how much it cost compared to snappy clean, but its extremely cheap. im more worried about using up my solar powered hot water lol :chuckle:



ive wondered if its too strong, but i have a white LC polishing pad thats been used and washed 20-30 times and is brand new. also brought a tangerine hydrotech pad back to life after being used on single stage black paint. still a little dark, but you can tell what pad it is at least.
