SL65 Black Series......softest paint I've ever seen

If the paint is that soft than some marring may be inevitable. In this case I wouldnt worry about inducing marring with MF during your compounding and polishing stages, no need to worry about that if your just going to follow up with a buffer anyways. So if you remove all the defects and instill some light marring during the wipe off or wipedown than just leave it and move onto the next step.

After you've done your final polishing than you should become very careful about your wipedowns and hope not to induce anything. Im sure you know this but with soft clears wait a little longer before buffing off polish residue after polishing, if the paint is still even warm the chances of marring with an MF are greater. Make sure it is 100% cool to the touch before you wipe it down.

Also you should be changing your MF out constantly, always be using a fresh one on each panel, you may need 2 or 3 if your working on a door and obviously more for a hood..... and on an SL the hood is huge!

Thanks a lot Dave. I did not know about wiping off the polish too soon, that's an really good insight.

I may have to order some more Eurow Shags before tackling the car.
