Where do you mobile guys get your water from, and what is the pest way to transport it?



Also do you heat your water? How?

Well, I'm not a full service mobile detailer but read alot of the forums and see what guys are doing. Most people use a tank (50-90gallon tank some bigger I guess) and they either fill up at their place before leaving the morning or heck some might have friends here and there that will let them fill up at their place in exchange for some services or something.



Not sure if anyone "heats" their water but some probable use a filtering process on their tanks. HTH

I have two water tanks. One is a 65 gallon and the other one is a 35 gallon. I have a 5x8 open utility trailer that holds them along with a generator, ACE water pump, pressure washer, and storage chest for all types of hoses and pressure washer accessories.



I live in an apartment so I don't have a hose, so what I do is take 5 gallon water jugs and fill them up and then fill up the tank with those (it's tedious, but what are you going to do? :nixweiss :D ). I have one customer which requires me to have both tanks completely filled (dump trucks), and for that I get the water from his house.
 
I am on ebay looking for water tanks and they have 35, 55, and 65 that seem practical. How often would you need to refill these tanks? I am thinking about buying a minivan, would I be able to fit everything I need in a little Ford Windstar?



Ok, now this ACE pump, what does that do and how does it hook up? I am assuming it attaches to the water tank somehow, and then to your powerwasher correct? Where would be a good place to get one and what size or strength? And at what strentgh PSI washer would I need?
 
Check your yellow pages for water stores...mine back home has a detail water set up and we pay about 11 cents per gallon- $10 to fill a 100 gal. tank..about.



Some rent DI tanks at their homes, which are very nice. Water is truly spot free and you can fill from home.

i carry an ice chest full of water with a drain spout...its about 15 gallons, and like scott, using ONR I can get through about 4 cars without having to refill...now add in the 3 gal heated extractor i use, and its a limit of two cars a day for me on one fill up, but that is fine because most of the time I am by myself and can only get two cars in one day if I am lucky...

He’s saying that he has a local store that sells de-mineralized water. So instead of setting up an RO system or DI filters or both at his own place he just goes to the store and they fill up his mobile tank.

FYI, Bill raised it to 15¢ in March. I talked him out of 20¢.:D Still not bad for RO but a system for my home is looking better and better, from a logistical standpoint.
 
I'm with Scottwax and Toyotaguy....I use ONR and only have a 15 gal ag sprayer I converted to fit my needs. I purchased at TSC for about 90.00. I also have the Mytee Lite II and it uses 3gals. So I can go a whole day or about 3 full details with still water left over.



Just in case I need more, I do have a 5gal cont. with a spout.
 
I have my 100 gallon tank filled up at a local detail supply shop. They have the DI tanks and sell DI water for $0.10/gallon. I don't go through water that often because I also use ONR, and the water tank/pressure washer setup is mainly for the really dirty cars.
