Since we are on the topic of engines....

Engine Detailing...

Anthony Orosco,
I thought of this thread today as a detailed the engine of a 2001 CLK 430 Cabriolet. I used old reliable Simple Green and dressed with AM's Dress-It, however as a final touch-up I used Stoners Trim Shine where needed.

Dean,

Nice work on the engine plus a great addition to the thread:jump

I encourage others to also post some engine detail work on this thread and their techniques.

Anthony

Thanks Anthony for this how-to and technique article and for the pics. Thank you Clean Dean for your pics and the great tip-off to this thread. I've added it to my favorites for future reference - which may just be this coming weekend I hope.

Much appreciated! :)

Thanks!

I have not spoken with you in some time, and I haven't seen many posts from you. I hope all is well !!! I take it whitewater rafting season is coming up your way, someday hope to come down and give it a try.

I am with you with regards to Anthony Orosco. This guy loves detailing, and he is a real professional !!!

Question: Whats the avg amount of time it takes you fellas to detail an engine (say for instance the ones in those pics)?

Very nice work btw.

I agree with 'onthespot' too, i have learned a substantial amount of info/helpful tips from the DC members over my stay here. You all are way cool! :D

I have a question for ya Anthony
Anthony you use Super Dress it.
I am also using the AM super dress it.I was wondering if you mix it with water since it seems to thick right from the bottle or if you use it straight from the bottle. I used to use the regual Dress it seemed when I would spray it on and let the heat from the egine kind of bake it in the dress it seemed to dry up and leave a nice coating on everything But the super dress it seems to stay white in some areas that is why I was asking if you mix it with water a bit more before you used it.

Thanks

Jay

Hello Detailians:)

I first would like to thank you all for the compliments....that's really cool and I appreciate that. I likewise have also learned a great deal from you all also, a great deal!

My time for engines is about the same as Deans. If it is a regular client then all it may need is a quick spray down and then blown off and usually never needs to be dressed out again for some time.

onthespot,

WOW!, nice AFTER pic of that engine. I love engine bays with bright colors like red and yellow, even orange. Really stands out when clean:)

Granitestate,

I cut my Super Dress-It half and half with water. It is way too thick and costly to use straight. It does puddle up in some areas and if this happens what I do is just wipe those areas down first and then the extra dressing helps to cover those areas that may need more coverage.

Hope that helps and you all have a great day!

Anthony

Im going to do my Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 Engine soon what what you recommend I cover Clean Dean and Anthony.

Engine was a mess dean do you ever use anything stronger the SG on engines. ? I tend to use EFHI and APC+ 4:1 and SG for the more dusty engines compartments.

Frozen,

Make sure the caps that cover the oil and such are tight, cover the distributor cap and then make sure all your plug caps are seated in well. Then have at it!

Dean.........once again great results :)

Yep will do dont want to get water into connectors. How long should I let the degreasers soak. ? Im going to use a tooth brush in the tough spots.
