Simple Green

well since it is not all that great for seals and hoses, i'll stick to the gunk engine degreaser.

but others have stated that it can harm paint, you have not seen any problems with the painted areas of the engine compartment ??

None that I have seen. Dodge did a crummy job painting the non-visible parts of the car (door armpits, under the hood) so I likely don't have the best paint to test on.

ok, so i have another question. it is a no go on plastic, even diluted right ??

well i just bought another car, 2002 sentra for a daily driver so the Z get's a rest and the geerage !!

the hubcaps / wheel covers in the front are bad :o

so what do you guys suggest to use on them if simple green is a no no :(

i'd use simple greem, dilluted. Hell, I've used simple green on a 6k set of wheels :) Some people have bad luck with it, others don't. I don't get it.... I never let it dwell though, so that could be the difference

dwell meaning you do not allow it to sit on the surface of what you are cleaning ??

sounds good, if it does not work, i will have to buy new ones anyways :wall

yeah, dwell as in don't let it sit on the wheel. i also spray down with water, then spray on simple green, then get to work cleaning. let me know if you need any more info.

A curious thread...

Simple Green sucks. Just that simple.

It will permenantly damage many areas of your vehicle.

There are truly *thousands* of other 'all purpose cleaners', and the majoity of them are completely harmless!

PM me if you just can't find an all purpose clener!

Here's a "Rule of Thumb" that has stood the test of time:

The better the distribution, the poorer the quality.

Like so many things in life, that applies about 80% of the time.

The more they spend on marketing... well, it just shows where the thrust is.

The Amorall Brand is a great example. Simonize used to have a great Brand Name, and Turtle Wax keeps on going!

Mequiar's, and Mother's, may be the exceptions.

Wake up. Smell the Roses.
