Simple Green & DPD vs Dirty Wheels - Product Review

Not sure if anyone has tried this combo as a wheel cleaner solution but I thought I would give it a shot. I used Simple Green APC 4:1 for the outside and Dawn Power Dissolver for the hard stuff on the inside of these wheels.















Not bad for lower cost OTC products... I did a full write up on my blog.

You mean my blog? My store isn't even open yet. I just use my blog so I don't have to copy my posts in the several forums I frequent. Sorry I had to inconvenience you... :confused:
 
I would never use Simple Green on my vehicles for anything. Dilluted or not. I have seen it oxidize aluminum and turn plastic and rubber white.
 
I've used it at this dilution ratio for years on OEM wheels and never had a problem. But I can't say I have experience using it anywhere else except wheels and maybe wheel wells.

Even the new formulation? It was reformulated recently. I love the stuff. :)

Nice write up, I use Simple Green all the time to clean wheels myself...
 
Just read the blog, nice work. Does it scare anyone else that the dawn worked better than the Simple Green??



I have yet to find that Dawn in any local store.
 
Hey Dan - got some questions, first, where did you find that Dawn Power stuff? and have you tried Super Green from Majestic? I spray the tires, wheels and wheel wells with water then hit all three with Super Green (full strength) then use a sponge and brush to work it in and then rinse. Sounds long but it doesn't take a lot of time. Jeff at Majestic said the Super Green was alkaline, and for really bad wheels, use Kick Acid - let dwell for 30 seconds, then spray Super Green to neutralize the acid and then rinse, I haven't tried that ---yet!
 
Do you have a Wal-Mart close by? They have it in the dishwashing stuff area.

That's where I always find it. It's made for dishes, pot, and pans so it'll be where the other dish wash stuff is located. I think the OP was mistaken when he mentioned it was designed for ovens, but it is a pretreater for baked on gunk (food).



I use it for cleaning pads and applicators. I would be careful using it on some wheels and other surfaces as the bottle has a list of surfaces to avoid. It's good stuff, but like any harsh cleaner you should test a small concealed area first.
