Simoniz 10in Buffer

Hi all, I am new to this forum and loving it. I'm one of those who started waxing his dads car at an early age. Now I have my own so I continue to do it. Anyhow last summer I purchased the Simoniz 10in Buffer (pic) because I wanted to get the job done faster. This buffer is orbital and oscillates at a single speed of 2600 rpm. Other then the single speed how does it compare to the PC? Do you guys think it will be able to remove swirls? I've only used this buffer with Mothers 3 step system and it didn't seem to remove any to me (I will try again with all the new info I've gathered.)

Also what do you guys think of Simoniz products? Should I get a Simoniz sheep skin or microfiber wash mitt?
Thanks in advance for the help

That buffer is good for applying wax, but as for swirl removal-not a chance. To do any kind of serious paint correction, you will need at least the Porter Cable.

As for the Simoniz stuff...I have no idea, it's been a long time since I've used any of their products. But the thing to remember is: How you use a product is more important than the product you use. Process > Product...Everytime

SNike05,

Sorry, the buffer you have is not in the same class as the PC. As Don said, you can use it for applying waxes, and that's about it. As a matter of fact, some of the bonnets they make for those buffers do more bad than good.

As for the Simoniz products, I'm sure they still make some pretty good stuff. I would pass on the MF mitt (at least for washing), and go with the sheepskin mitt.

Yeah I was figuring it wouldn't compare to the PC. The problem is the PC goes for $240 CAD here in my city. I just can't put out that much cash for a buffer that I will use once every few months at the moment. Simoniz does offer MF bonnets now so I will use those instead of the terry cloth ones for now. The good thing is my car is new and only driven in the summer so I have very few swirls and scratches I guess I can hold off on the PC for a bit. Thanks guys.

Understood! :bigups Not to worry, you can still do some fine work by hand if you put your mind (and hands) to it! :D
