Silicone bad for short period??

Well I'm not too sure on the silicone end of things, but I can see why people say petroleum distillates are bad for rubber and vinyl. Didn't someone say you could make glue out of gasoline and rubber tires? :lol Basically I just try to avoid that ingredient myself, and try to stick to the water-based PDMS stuff.

Sorry I forgot last time: Welcome Bryan! :wavey :D

Well, I did a detail today, and came up with a decent solution for me. Layering, baby. I got like 5 coats of s100 on the car, don't know why I haven't thought of layering the tire dressing to get more shine. :o

I put 2 layers of Megs tire shine on there, and BAAAAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:shocked:bounce

So for all of the ghetto shine lovers out there like myself on my black car, its all in the layers baby.:bow

Plus, I get the added benefit of using tire stuff that is not harmful to my tires. Might have to use more of it, but I don't want to mess up my tires at all. Just let the first coat dry, then go at it. ;)

I was just reading about this in the autopia tips section and they said that silicones do not harm tires, just the petroleum distillates do. Makes sense to me, check it out.
