show car glaze #7 the best???

i've been using megauirs show car glaze #7 for awhile now and i love it. its great and all but i need something new. it has no cutting/cleaning power at all and the shine dosent last too long.

i hear good things about vanilla moose and merenza or some other manufacture's final polish.

are there any other glazes out there? do the other polishes give as much shine as #7???

I love VM topped with Meguiars #3. I use the #3 with my PC and a finishing pad. Work until dry and use the Mike Phillips method of removal with an 100% cotton towel.

In fact I used it this weekend on my car.

I went clay, DACP, VM, #3, Collinite Insulator Wax, P21s. AMAZING!

But, I think the #7 and #3 are the best glazes on the market.

VM to me is a cleaner type wax, not so much a pure glaze as we all define one as. It's a nice surface prep if your paint is in good shape.

Try #9 followed by VM then #7 and finally a carnuba topper.

I'm with Spilchy...I just can't get enough of Meguiar's #3. Even my #7 is being neglected because of it. Part of it is the machine application, I just love how quickly and effectively it works! #7 probably has the edge in shine, but my car is gold and the extra time invested on a hand application of #7 just doesn't add up for me.

You can use #7 with PC. My bro' does it all the time. Works great, and you can get really thin coats. A bit of waste of product though, as the large foam pad soaks up quite a bit.

2wheelsx2, Yeah, I've gone the machine route with #7 a couple of times, but I find it harder to work with than #3. If I'm working on a dark car, I'll always go #7 by hand...but you just don't get as great a return on a gold car (like mine), so I always use #3 by machine. Probably just need more practice with #7 and the machine....(footsteps away from the computer......garage door opening and shutting)

Are you looking for a direct replacement for something with the qualities of #7, or are you looking for something that works differently?

If you want a product to replace #7's function, do a search on Mothers Sealer & Glaze, which has been accumulating more good reviews over time. #7 doesn't have any cut and doesn't last very long because it's not really meant to.

If you want something with mild abrasives in it, there are lots to choose from, with different grades and formulations....

Another excellent choice is Meguiar's #81 Hand Polish from their Body Shop line. It is equivalent to #7 in shine and a little easier to wipe off!

Cheers!

Tim

A good glaze is 3M PIII Finishing Glaze as it also contains carnuba. Does a nice job on cars getting ready for wax. Do not use it for any sealant due to the carnuba in it.

I love #7 as well, but oily. There are so many and you're right on Megs making a complete line of products. It all is in personal preference in some cases, as they all will mostly the same thing. Polish with oils or silicon oils and wax.

Deanski

i want something to replace the #7, my car is burgundy so it is kinda dark paint. i like the look of #7 but i want something that would last longer, or even look better than it.

unfortunatley i dont have a PC or anything, all i have is a orbital. i've been told to try #7 by machine for better results. i'll give it a try, but i heard the orbital isnt strong enough?

The #7 does give a gorgeous, wet shine, but it isn't really meant to polish or to last.

Try using something that does have some cutting/cleaning power and follow with #7. Then finish off with a wax to seal in the #7.

Have you been spending all this time trying to mask paint imperfections with #7 alone? What is your current "routine"?

It sounds like you need a process like the one Taxlady described....

my usuall routine consist of show car glaze by hand and then #26 yellow wax by hand. recently i tryed meguairs premuim paint polish, #7 glaze and then topped with some s100. basicially no real polishing.

hmmm i do have lots of swirls marks. i basically try to mask then i guess with a shine heh.

right now i'm looking at merenza's final polish or #9 swirl free polish for removing some swirls.

of course i'll all be doing it by hand or orbital. what do you guys think? can i get all, if any of the swirl marks out by hand or orbital?

If you have "lots" of swirls I'd personally skip right to something like DACP or Fine Cut because I've found gentler things like SMR to be far too mild by hand. It's tough going, but break the job into small sessions and you won't kill yourself all in one day. ;)

You can use any wax. Blitz used to seem like what everyone was using to cover OG Omega Glaze, but ever since S100 really hit it big, plus it DOESN'T stain trim like Blitz. So it's your call.
