Should my Viking Genuine Wool mitt scratch a CD?

I found a couple Viking Genuine Wool Mitts similar to this (but without a thumb) for $1.15 at my Murray's and decided to pick them up since they were a steal...

I did the CD test with it when it was DRY and it completely swirled up the CD. Is this normal for a wool mitt? I understand it was dry, but should this mitt be assigned to wheels and windows?
 
Try the CD test again but do it with your normal shampoo mix...see if the swirls continue and if they do, you should probably leave it for wheels, fenderliners, etc.
 
Some of the viking mitts I picked up are really rough, not as soft and fluffy as my eurow ones.



I would test the mitt when wet with a shampoo solution. Even my softest wool mitt mars a cd dry.
 
The mitt (without the thumb) is the synthetic mitt and is not suggessted for use by Autopian standards. From my experience, it will scratch softer paints.
 
all your test proved is that it will scratch if used dry dry



the cd test must be done just as you use the product wet, soap, same pressure(or a tiny bit more)

for the test to be accurate
 
i've used a few of those wool mitts with no problems (i always pick them like fruit and get the softest/plushest ones), and like the others have stated you need to use it when wet...

I've seen mits without any thumbs and indicate they are genuin sheepskin. Are they misleading me somehow?

See if it has a leather lining, the actual "skin" part of sheepskin.

These are the products that tend to get confused.

Thanks for the replies guys, I do appreciate the input. The part number is 853800 (2N1 Mitt with one side mesh mf screen), I has a black cuff with a rounded shape...looks like the one posted without a thumb.
 
If one side of it is "mesh mf screen" I kind of doubt the other side is real sheepskin, unless it's one of those cloned sheep that has MF on one side and wool on the other...(that was a joke, I know that sheepskin could be sewn to MF to form the product described, I just have never seen such a combo).
 
I do not know what to tell you about that particular wash mitt. I have never used it myself. However did you come up with some different results when you tested it wet, like what was mentioned before.



In the end you have to look at it like this, is the money you saved worth scratching your car. If the mitt does not pass the CD test when wet, then give the gift of a wash mitt to someone you know that does not care about their car. :)

Or use it for stuff on the undercarriage :D
