Should I take the plunge to rotary?

I currently have a PC and have been detailing a few cars on the side (just enough to feed my addiction for detailing). I'm debating if I should take the plunge and get a rotary(Makita). Has anyone regreted it? Do you think a PC is good enough?

If you know what you're doing and yuo have the money then you should definetly go to a rotary. It will cut a decent amount of time off of your compounding step(s), and you can do more with it once you know how. That being said, you must know exactly what you are doing because you can destroy your paint if you do it wrong. Get an extra hood to practice on to find the limits of the paint so you know when to stop. Also, it might be wise to invest in a paint thickness guage so you don't buff off the clear coat, that would be bad.

Once you get use to a rotary its hard not to want and use it. However I would get some time useing it on an older car that you don't care about much, or get an old hood at a local wrecking yard.

With the clear coats its hard to burn threw paint these days, and foam pads have helped that as well IMO.

TO answer your question yes!

I bought one but I honestly use my PC more - the rotary is like Beyonce - just so big and clumsey.

groe is back .... :lol

I love my Makita...If you get a rotary, Menzerna polishes are a must.

I have a maikta and a pc, I use the buffer for my first 2 steps with a meguires marroon foam pad and polish with a different but same pad and than use the pc with my carnuba wax with a meiguires yellow soft buff pad and nevre had a problem with these steps. On 90 percent of my cars i do a 3 step process and never ever had a client complain about anything. They were always amazed at how good there cars look when i was done.
But my experence and other i have talked to say that makita and pc are the best combo's around, light and easy to control.
