Should I get a 4:3 or 16:9 monitor??

I'm getting ready to buy a new monitor (20"), and I can't decide if I want a regular or widescreen. First of all, I never watch movies on my computer so that part doesn't matter. I'm just more interested in being able to display more at one time without having to scroll so much, but at the same time I don't want things to look distorted. Is this a problem with widescreen monitors?

As far as I know (I only know 1 person with a 16:9 screen) is it just leaves blank space for the most part at the edges. You desktop looks normal, as does Word and all the Office program (just kinda zooms in) but most web pages arent designed for 16:9, so you'll get spaces at the right and left edges. That said, I know some forums automatically adjust to the screen res (Autopia might, I dont know) so that it fills the whole screen width. Some do, most dont. If you want more space for working on stuff in word or on your desktop or more space for additional windows, sure 16:9 would be great, but IMO for web browsing its kidna a catch 22

Hope this helps
