Should I fill or attempt to remove swirls?

I really don't think I have the experience and would hate to make swirls worse. I have a brand new porter cable and some new pads on order. I plan on using it on my older white car before trying to tackle the swirls on my new black car.

I would settle for filling the swirls if it was a safer method. Any advice for a newbie. ''

Just a hint though. Swirls will not be only more difficult to see, but more difficult to remove (in general) on white paint. Swirls are easy to see and create on black, but in general, tend to be easier to remove too.

This is from my own personal experience and from various experienced detailers here.

On the basis of ‘least aggressive first’ you could try Meguiar’s Fine Scratch & Swirl Remover first. It’s a hand applied SMR

~Hope this helps~

elcopan - I'm not sure you'll NEED to practice on an older car before doing your newer one, but it won't hurt. The PC is a LOT safer than you might think. In fact, it's SO gentle that many people find that their new PC doesn't make (complete) swirl removal quite as easy as they expected. But MOST people find the PC makes the job a LOT easier and that they get better results than they would have by hand. Using the PC with regularly-recommended-here products will at least DIMINISH your swirls quite a bit. I'd try that and see what's left that needs filled. Meguiar's has a new product coming out (NXT) that seems to be GREAT for filling the imperfections that don't easily polish out, so keep your eyes peeled for it.
