okay, so i bought a 2.5 hp compact Shop Vac brand shop vac from lowes. its wet/dry. problem is, when im trying to extract my woolite mix carpet shampoo, it blows foam out the blower port!!!!!! its makin me mad, as i used it after a wash and it sprayed the outside of the car before i knew it.

any way to prevent this???

I have a larger Lowes shop vac (blue silver) that I use in my garage now but it was my mobile detailing vacuum for many years. If I recall there is a plastic piece that goes inside to point the incoming crap down. Otherwise it would quickly saturate the filter and cause problems. I'm not sure that all of them have that piece. I loved the vacuum but had to make room for some new equipment so got one of the 5hp 4gallon ones from Home Depot.

yeah i removed the filter thing that wasnt supposed to be used with the wet function. also mine did have that pointer that aimed the junk down. i think it was just defective, i got a bigger one now ;)

How much is that unit? It looks sweet!!

$70 from Home Depot, you also might want the detailing kit that has extra tools for $20 as well. The vac doesn't come with many accessories.

Well I have a 2.5hp Shop-Vac nothing compact about it though....and it works great. If it's setup correctly for wet/dry use with the foam filter, I'm not sure how any suds would get through. But I'd also suggest that you should use a low sudsing soap made for extraction.

The rigid above is one I use now. I love it but it isn't as powerful as my 5hp Shop Vac from Lowes. Both are 5hp not sure if the hose diameter makes the difference or that Hp isn't everything.

does anyone have any preventative measures against foaming? i got a bigger vac, 4 hp and 5.5 gallons, b/c the motor burnt up on mine. im using woolite/water mix with water as my extraction?
