Shop Vac question...

:help: I need to know if anyone recommends what shop vac I should buy that is as quiet as possible.

I am tired of losing a certain percentage of my hearing after using my current "Jet Turbine" of a vacuum.

Thanks for any pointers here.

If you want a quiet vacuum, get a Wap/Alto. Extremely quiet, powerful, and well made. They have triple filtration, so no water is needed. They are expensive, but well worth it IMO.

Well I took bigal3's advice and went with the Rigid Vac. I went to the 16 Gallon size with more HP tho!

Here's the specs.

• 6-1/2 peak HP motor provides powerful suction for heavy-duty cleanup jobs

• Converts into a powerful blower to clear walkways, decks and jobsites from leaves, grass clippings and everyday debris

• Lower center of gravity helps prevent accidental tipping

• Power head has been modified to provide more efficient airflow and better suction with less noise

Thanks for the advice, and from the reviews I have read we should not be disappointed!

Ear plugs! I use them all the time. Running a PC or a rotory for 8 hours a day and it gets annoying. You can buy bulk ear plugs for like $15 at home depot.

Funny I see this topic........... I'll try this question in this thread.

Has anyone tried the dewalt 2 gal. vac. that is run off either dewalt rechargeable batteries or outlet? I didnt see a hp rating on it, so I'm wondering the suction it has. Seems like a great little tool for details on the go. Just pack up a couple battery packs and your set.

Then again, when are you really "detailing on the go"?

A good 6.5hp shopvac is no question better than any other. As long as you have a 2x2 square of room, might as well get the best :nomore:

Ear plugs! ....
That’s the easiest, cheapest and most effective way right there!

A quiet machine is a wonderful thing if you can afford it. Not everybody is prepared to cough up the coin for a Fein, Festool, WAP/Alto or Nilfisk

PC.
