shop owners only!!!

I think your single biggest obstacle, and I'm trying to be sincere, is your age. I'm just not sure that the 50 year old Maserati owner wants to immediately assume you have the experience to 'manage' his luxury exotic. And, I don't have a suggestion as to how to overcome that hurdle.

Keep the the dream. Continue to learn and educate yourself.

Good Luck.

I can lend some advice on this. I opened Premier Detailing when I was 20. The first thing my friends said to me was 'your too young and no one will take you seriously.' This was a thought in my mind as well. I am a very mature person for 22 and was at age 20 as well. However never confuse maturity with experience. You need to look and act professional, and try not to divulge information that reveals your age.

If you are knowledgeable and confident you can earn someones trust. It will be crucial that you document your work so that you have a portfolio. Get insurance immediately as this is one question that you will want to answer with a yes.

In the end I have found myself successful because of my quality of work, passion for detailing, and my work ethic. Which is obviously what anyone will need. Just do not let your age get in the way. Look professional, act professional and turn out the best work you can. No one will worry about your age unless you give them a reason to.

On topic, we have a very private shop, in a corporate park. It is very clean, and in the upper end of town. However we do not give out our location, nor advertise it. I think the most important thing is to have a clean shop. I try to to keep mine immaculate. I even pressure wash my parking lot every other week.

I hope this helps,

Sean
