ShMitt query

my ShMitt fell on the ground (face down) while I was letting it air-dry on a chair. brushed off whatever dirt I could see and then rinsed it afterwards.

i guess the million-dollar question is.....do i throw it away or is it still good?

fyi, if this was a regular $5-$7 wash mitt, I wouldn't have hesitated to throw it out, but because of the price (not to mention shipping charges) i felt the need to get your opinions....

thanks

I made the mistake of letting my mom use my ShMitt on her van because I just polished it out a couple weeks ago and I didn't want her to instill more swirls. I turned around and where did she lay it down? The ground :aww: I threw mine away but maybe you could use it for something else..like cleaning rims or to apply dressing to tires? Just a thought if you don't want to throw it away.

That's the ultimate question if you use a tightly controlled cleaning process. I'd be sending it to the trash if it was used on my Honda.

My rule of thumb is, if it hits the ground it can't touch the car again. Now that applies to the ultra soft paint on the S2K, but the Jeep is another situation entirely. A good through rinse and inspection would keep it going. All of my cars have there own set of cleaning tools which are dedicated to the specfic needs of the paint. Sheepskin and microfiber mitts work fine on the Jeep and the Expolrer, but they marr the hell out of the Honda.

You need to factor in the cars finish to correctly deal with this type of problem.

that has always been my rule too so i guess (for me) Shmitt goes bye-bye. the bad part is i just received my order of detailing supplies last thursday:angry

oh well, i guess i'm gonna have to pick up a wash mitt from walmart. does the sheepskin/wool was mitt really marr honda paint? just worried coz we're planning on picking up a Pilot later this month!!

This seems a bit extreme and wasteful to me. You could always soak it in some soap or apc. Maybe a wash in the washing machine might be in order. If you're really paranoid about it you could just use it for the tires.
