Shine an F1 car

Thats right F1 do not care about swirls. But why?



Well the panels are pure carbon fibre, which means they are finely rippled anyway and the larger panels are not perfectly straight.



Also most of the signage you see on the cars are decals anyway. With no shine.



The cars at launch are similar but are not the cars that will race, this is because they are still developing the car at that time and will continue to do so.



How did i get to get in the pits, well i work in the automotive industry and it was part of a corporate hospitality package with a manufacturer in F1.



Cleanliness noes not affect flow, if you think about it what would disturb a air molecule? Well the shape of the car.



The surface is slick enough for airflow, it will not be more efficient aerodynamically if it has a wax a few microns thick on top of it.
 
OH, above, on the NASCAR show car thing...



the cars you see at the shows and publicity are not the real cars, just a show car. Sometimes they are older used ones, or some are just ones that are put together, just for show, and never raced. They also used to just be a body on the frame and interior, nothing much more.



But...some places (like DEI do have the REAL cars on display, like for exmaple I think the one Dale won a chapionship or Daytona in...cant remember).



But the ones you see in malls, shows, etc are just demos.
