Sheepskin Mitts

A few sheepskin questions......

What brand do you prefer and why? I'm especially interested in what folks with black paint are using.

Where do you buy your mitts?

Does anyone know where you can buy them in bulk (6 or more @ a discounted price)?

FWIW -I've been using 3 brands. Euro, sheepskin.com, and whatever brand is sold at Autogeek (they look very similiar to Euro mitts to me).
 
I like to use the ones from Advance Auto... Bought a couple 15 dollars sheepskins from sheepskin.com and from Autogeek.net. They were incredible but the durabilty was gone in about 3 washes. The ones at discount are readily available, cheaper, and are real sheepskin. So as long as its sheepskin, and not some synthetic material, its all good.

Forgot to mention, I prefer mitts without thumbs. I like to flip quickly to a clean side of a mitt, but the thumbs get in the way. D'OH.
 
I've been very pleased with my Eurow brand mitts (used regularly on our black Z71 Tahoe). They seem plush/soft/thick.

I buy them at Wal-Mart for ~$6. I'm not sure about quantity discount, but you may check directly with Eurow.
 
Joyride, The Euro mitts have thumbs.

I used to prefer the square (no thumb) mitts for the same reason as you, but my neighbor made a valid point. The top portion of the mitt has the hanger loop, where the palm side of the mitt does not. This piece can cause marring if your not careful. For this reason, I only use the palm side of the mitt now.
 
Eurow mitts are genuine sheepskin mitts, and they do have thumbs. I believe that Eurow is the supplier for Excel Detail and other popular retailers.
 
I have been buying all of my sheepskin mitts from Exceldetails. He has several different weights. I only buy the Ultra Heavy Mitt. I have been using it for 4 months and it shows no signs of wear. The Ultra Heavy is $8.99. Patrick Smith is the owner and usualy includes a MF towel with every order. I ordered 2 a couple of weeks ago and was short 1 mitt. A quick e-mail to Patrick and
he shipped it priority and included 2 more towels. Decent towels too. He has excellent cutomer service that we are use to and is prompt shipping your order and the sheepskin mitts are top of the line. They do have thumbs.
I have looked high and low and have not found mitts as heavy as these Ultra Heavy Mitts. Here is the link.

I have 5 Target Vroom Mitts. They are great and have lasted a very long time. I bought some very nice ones from autogeek last winter, and they were super plush, fluffy, but they were trashed and wrecked by a couple washes.

(AUTOGEEK WAS EXCELLENT IN REPLACING THESE MITTS BTW.)

No problems at all. Except for the one i got that was all jacked up. But they replaced it without question and payed to send the old one back. Great customer service.

yep, I remember you did mention there CS. The mitts do look nice . i would like to get a few i just hate
to have to order them online..I can't feel or touch the mitt to check
the quality..

If you are talking about that little tiny loop attached at the wrist band just cut it out/off. You shouldn't have that part of the mitt on your car any way. The washing surface is much farther down. I cut them out just in case and have never had a problem. Being able to flip the mitt and get a clean side does more good than that easily removed loop does harm.
 
I still have one I bought from Wal-Mart about 3 years ago. It is by far the softest sheepskin I have ever felt. They have since changed the manufacturer of them so they're not available any more. The cuff is just now starting to unravel. May have to relegate it to undercar mitt. I would love to find another like it. It has the leather interior, black cuff, and no thumb. It was a steal at $5.99.

I like to hang mine up to dry, so I don't cut out the loop. My neighbor did, and it lead to an early mitt death :)

I was curious to see if anyone is using a brand that I haven't run across, etc...

I like to hang mine too. I had one problem with my mitts when tossing the mitt inside out before putting them in the dryer. Both mitts ripped inbetween the thumb and the mitt. I don't reverse the mitts anymore.
 
I have the Euro brand mitts..I have been happy with them ..I go to wal-mart and pick through the mitts and find the best of the bunch....I have some that are 3 years old and still in great shape...

To clean them I put them on a rack..like a old oven rack..and spray them with the hose....then swish them in a bucket of clean water and resparay them and rinse again..then wring them out and hang dry...

Thanks folks. The Euro mitts are hard to find in my area these days.
The auto stores and retail chains have replaced sheepskin with MF wash mitts.
