Shawn F350 "Sandpaper Mod" for Rupes Bigfoot Polishers

Here is my video of a permanent solution for a free spinning backing plate on your Bigfoot Rupes 15 or 21.
Your KB washer can be discarded to allow full backing plate engagement to the arbor, preventing backing plate failure or damage.
I know others have done this particular mod different ways.
I found a way that the polisher can do it for you with little effort. A dremel may work for you as someone mentioned but this gives a very clean cut.

Keep in mind obviously that yours is a permanent mod to the machine and may in fact void the warranty where the washer mod removal puts the unit back to pure stock.

I'll agree but I'm just accelerating the wear that will eventually happen over years of use.
It's cosmetic. Hopefully it I were to engrave my name on the side it won't void the warranty either.

My 15 wasn't damaged but I never ran it above speed 3 after I installed the washer.
The 21 I did a hood with washer installed. Looks like the arbor turned 90 degrees.
If most never remove the plate again after the washer mod it's possible you have damage but just don't know.
Another concern is the backing plate is like the spanner wrench to hold onto while taking out the hex bolt. If it totally rounds off you'll have to carefully cut the plate to get it off the machine.
