Shampoo-does it really matter which?

Heh heh, well, you sure wouldn't be the *first* person to call me stubborn, not by a long shot :D Let's see how I can rationalize this one, leaving aside whether DG is as good as Griot's...

No CarQuest around my area; I bet there's a NAPA but I dunno where, not anyplace nearby that's for sure. Ordering from Griot's takes a few minutes on the phone or online, done before I'd be out of the driveway (and I order stuff from Griot's anyhow).

Let's see...the DG is 16 oz. for ~$6 = ~$48/gallon; Griot's is ~$40/gallon + 10% ship = ~$44. Cheaper and more convenient to buy the stuff I know I like :nixweiss

Well, you can get a gallon of DG for $25!!!:heelclick

How about this, I am pretty sure you mentioned you have family in the Louisville area. The next time you visit Louisville, I will give you 16 oz of DG if you give me a few oz of Griot's so I can try it. Deal?

Ah, $25/gallon makes it more of a horserace all right ;) At the rate I go through shampoo that could add up!

Nah, not Louisville, but my in-laws are in TN. Thanks though.

Heh heh, everybody is offering me shampoo samples these days (second offer in as many days!), and I've yet to try the one ebpcivicsi gave me way back in August :o Shoulda used that on the ratty A8  but I had 2 wash buckets of Griot's left over from washing the MPV and figured why just dump 'em out.

I guess what it comes down to is a) I like the Griot's a lot, zero criticisms b) I've never heard anybody say the DG is *better* than Griot's c) I'd rather spend the money for Griot's than risk marring.

Heh heh, am I just *impossible* on this topic or what :o

Oh..I forget...what does the DG smell like?

Oh, I thought you did have family closer to Louisville. On the way to visit the in-laws in TN do you drive through Louisville on I-65? If so, you will have to stop for a bit. We could grab some lunch just to put a face with a name.

Reusing your wash from another car doesn't cause marring?? Wow, if you like used Griots over another product fresh, you must REALLY like Griots!!!

I am not sure what DG smells like. I am waiting till I use up the rest of my gallon of Meg's 62 before I go over to Carquest to get a gallon of DG. Since I use ONR quite often, it is taking a while before I use up my gallon of Megs. However, I get quite a laugh at how important it is to them what a product smells like.

Heh heh, I haven't been down south to visit the in-laws in ages (no no, we get along great, just that I stay home to babysit the dogs), but yeah, if I'm down your way we oughta get together.

Nah, between my foamgun-centric wash methods and my rinse buckets the *wash* buckets don't get very contaminated. Well, not enough that I wouldn't use 'em for *that* wash (the good vehicles might be a different story!).

It's funny how I am about product smells...stuff that drives others nuts (KSG, 1Z polish, 845, etc.) doesn't register to me but I *hate* some "food-scented" (cherry, grape) products :nixweiss

I used #62 before switching to Griot's, it's not bad and is my fave Meg's shampoo. See how you think the DG smells like when you get some.

I'm not that crazy about #62. I don't feel the lubricity that some people talk about. Hence why I want to switch to DG once I use up my #62. Once I get the DG, I will let you know how it smells.

Ah, OK..I think you'll like the DG better than the #62; people I know who've used both always do.

I used to hear good things about Poorboys Super Slick and Suds. Its praise has been died down lately. I guess the surgence of popularity of ONR muted it somewhat.

also if your using a foam cannon or foam gun, you might need the higher end shampoos...

NXT works fine in a foam gun and it's what I used to use way back when we could use the hose to wash our cars in Metro Atlanta. It's not extreme foam, but it gets the car covered in soapy water (which is more the point than the insane amounts of foam that some shampoos provide).
