SFP/VM/CMW not beading

Hello All,

Well, today is the first time it has rained in 3+ weeks and I was actually excited because I wanted to see how well SFP/VM/CMW combo would bead in the rain.

The detail job was done last Friday and had a fair amount of dust buildup on it as of this morning. Well, the sides of the truck are beading off decently but the hood is not beading at all. :( Did I do anything wrong? The finish on Friday looks amazing though. :)

I can only compare this beading to Zaino's Z2 which beads extraordinarily well as I don't have any experience with any of the 'other' products yet. I do want you to know that I am not a Zaino nazi, but only fairly comparing the beading abilities. The finished look of Clearkote destroys Zaino by far but I am wondering what I did wrong with CMW.

Your responses are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Erik

By the way, the VM was applied to 2 panels at a time then coming back and removing from where I started.

The CMW was applied to the entire vehicle first then removed starting from where I started.

Here's a shot after I just sprayed it down with water. I sprayed it down with water to move the dirt off it to see if the dirt was preventing it from beading.

Try washing it with car wash soap and see if that restores the beading. I have a customer who leaves his hunting truck outside 24/7 (it has a platform built into the bed that raises and lowers) and it was covered in sap and pollen today. Initially, only the sides were beading but once I actually washed it, the horizontal surfaces were too.

I don't see anything amiss with your application and removal and I have been getting very good durability with VM/CMW. I primarily use QEW to wash, so that may help.

Yeah, wash it and then see. Sometimes the [stuff] that gets on the finish will keep it from beading, even though it doesn't LOOK like there's anything much on it. Even VM without a topper beads longer than that for me, so see what the wash does.

I've seen it happen on a white renault I have. Even where there's AIO+SG it wasn't beading at all when the car was dirty, after washing it the beads showed imediatly.

That's odd. I have no experience with that combo but my glanzed m3 still beads like crazy after 3 weeks, dirt or no dirt.
