several interior detail questions

hey guys and girls, i was thinking of cleaning up the interior of my dad's van. the carpets aren't that dirty so i'll just be vacuuming it but several years ago when we lived in a house with a pool he had to transport chlorine and one day the chlorine spilled and there are spots in the carpet where the fiber "burned" off. i was wondering if there is any concern for those spots. should i neutralize the chlorine or have they already pretty much evaporated? if i should neutralize it what should i use? another question is regarding imitation woolite. are those cheap versions of woolite called cold water washes just as safe and effective as woolite to use on leather, plastice, cloth, and detailing pads and towels? my last question is regarding the headliner. his car is like 5-6 years old and he doesn't really care for it so the inside is pretty clean but it has acquired this smell that seems to exist in most older cars so i was thinking of spraying fabreeze on the carpet and while i was going to do that i thought might as wel do the headliner so i was wondering how moist do you have to get the headliner before the the adhesive unsticks itself? better safe than sorry lol

If it has been several years since the spill I highly doubt it is still causing damage. I do not know about dying carpets but you may have to use a neutralizer if you plan on doing that (but I am not sure).

Woolite is so cheap why not just buy the real thing?

The headliner if you are just using febreeze you should be able to just mist the headliner...not soak it with febreeze...unless you REALLY REALLY like the smell of febreeze :D
 
Dont Febreeze, shampoo with a good smelling shampoo. If you have a little green, it only takes 30 seconds, and if not itll take 10 minutes at most. It'll get rid of the smell for good, whereas with febreeze, it'll come back on hot days (and you live in florida :))
