If you guys in business have a Service Price List, please post them! Very interested in seeing what packages you guys have. Coming up with my list seems to be the hardest part.

You need to find out what the locals are charging, then go from there.

You need to figure out your target market and figure out the economics of your area.

You won't start out at a $50/hour rate but you need to price yourself to what you think your worth.

Make your service list easy for people to read and understand. Its a great idea to see what other detailers are charging but don't just go and copy a service list because thats what that shop is charging.

You need to ask your self what is going to be your market? The daily drivers, the higher end cars or the exotics? Then you need to price accordingly. One thing is you don't want to go out polish out a car and make it swirl free and charge peanuts for your hard work. You don't want to be giving away your services or giving them to a person "who does't know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel" as Mike Phillips would say.

It takes lots of hard work to get to going so one thing I would highly recommend is getting Renny Doyle's book on how to start a home based detailing business. This a great book and will greatly help you understand how and what works in the detailing industry.

+1 on what the guys say about the market in your area.

I live in Southern California and one guy told me that he charges $75 per hour and usually spends around 20 hours in detailing a car. He says he spends 20 hours on cars that have been really neglected and that's just the exterior. The only time he charges less is if he's detailing a car thats just been bought at the car dealer.

A local guy that I used charges the following (just to give you an idea)

$100 for wash and wax

$250 for one step polish and interior detail

$350 for multi-step compound/polish and interior detail

Additional $50 for trucks or SUVs.

I charge anywhere from $100 - $600, depending on the customers budget and expectations. I don't do a lot of coatings but I charge $200 extra for that. I won't leave the house for less than a $100 bill though. Gotta make sure the juice is worth the squeeze.
