Seeing paint defects with metallic paint

People I consider credible have warned me that some ScanGrips don`t show marring all that well for them. With my, uhm..problematic..vision I`m gonna be very careful about buying into something (presumably) better than my old reliables.

Not that I plan to do much more correction in this lifetime :D

I`m the opposite. Scangrips show much more haze and marring than any other light I have tried.

This seems to be one of those genuine Subjective Matters. This particular subject doesn`t want to buy any more lights that don`t work for him ;)

Note that it`s *some* ScanGrips that don`t work for *some* people...I`m sure not slamming them.

Gee I don’t know if I should investigate one now. Sure wish I could try before I buy. I guess I could always just buy and go through the hassle of sending it back if I don’t like it.

Same here.

But I really am trying to avoid chasing the New Best Thing anyhow, at least until/unless I have a reason to do that.

And I can`t help but wonder whether some here will basically expend resources to discover problems that they don`t know they have..if residual marring shows up under [some lighting condition] that`s one thing, but I sure do get by well with the old-school stuff. I mean, I can clearly see the shortcomings of M205 on silver paint, so I`m not missing much.

BUT...with the problematic batteries for the SunGun I`ll probably need something some day, at least if I ever decide to get the Jag out of mothballs (just get me going..[freakin` individual] with rotary who did what I told him *not* to do..).

The Jag’s finish is marred up from a rotary,huh? That’s a shame. :(

I only have some halogens and various inspection lights so another one that can see evidence of marring even better might be good for me to own. That’s why I’m interested.

The way the whole "get the Jag ready for use" turned out was indeed a shame. After four years I`m still debating whether I even want to have it around now, the way it is, and the damage is simply irreparable. I try, but gee, some people...Eh, best to just leave it at that...sigh.

With this being International Happiness Day I`m gonna go try to not think about it.
