Sec / Gepc

6cyl's_of_fury

its naturally curly......
At a guess I think they are the same thing, but if they are not then let me know.

Given that I have AIO and have used it as a base for S100 without the SG, is there room in my product range to utilise SEC / GEPC in place of the AIO for S100 only waxing?? Or am I not really going to see any noticable difference between the AIO and SEC / GEPC?

SEC and GEPC is the same thing. The cleaner in it is very similar to AIO's cleaner but GEPC/SEC add more of a deep gloss to the paint. In fact I'll polish will GEPC, follow with AIO, then use a carnuba wax. It gives a great finish.

OK, sounds good, so I guess what I really want to know is if it is a worthwhile addition to my detailing goodies??

Im 80% sold....or would I be better of with something like VM? Or is there anything else that would be better/easier to use??

Am I wrong in my thinking that the SEC / GEPC performs like a glaze??

6cyl's_of_fury- This is one of those personal preference issues, but *I* like VM better. I tried using GEPC after VMm (on the single stage Jag, good testbed for such products, IMO), saw no improvement, decided to stick with VM. But others get different results and have different preferences.

SLiM003- They're in there, but are so mild that they are NOT anything to worry about.

Thanks for clearing that up. I've read somewhere that DavidB applied SEPC for 30 straight days with no sign of clearcoat's thickness wearing out so I figured that it contains no abrasives at all just like pinnacle lotion cleanser.

I didn't think they had any abrasives in them either? All I know is that it's great stuff.

I think we Autopians get sorta weird as to our concern (as Autopians) with abrasives :D

Some people are killing their clearcoats (IMO) by contantly striving for perfect finishes on daily drivers. Wetsanding, removing marring that oughta be lived with, etc.

Meanwhile, some OTHER people are too abrasives-adverse. Though IMO it sure pays to err on the side of caution.

Yeah, you can use some products every day for ages with no problem. Often these products DO contain abrasives, but those abrasives just aren't aggressive enough to cause trouble (i.e., thin the clear appreciably). Irene from TOL and I discussed this back in the late '80s when clear coats were becoming more common (and were more fragile than they are today), the abrasives in the products under discussion are no stronger than talcum powder and actually ARE, in some cases, talc or VERY fine clays.

GECP, Pinnacle PCL, Zymol HD Cleanse, and many others, they all contain ingredients that are "abrasives". If you use them on soft single stage (like my Jag), you can see them doing their mechanical work, gently, gradually removing micromarring (while transferring the abraded-off paint to the applicator).

Used on modern b/c, they won't remove much of anything except other products and dirt, at least unless you're using them with a rotary.
