Seasoned newbie here

Hello fellow Autopians! Long time lurker here, decided to jump down the rabbit hole head first.
I`ve learned quite a bit since I found this site and Autogeek. Come a long ways from using fake chamois and the same sponge to wash whole car. Always have had an eye for a clean car but have since learned the difference between a swirl and a squirrel(Mike p. homage)
Actually found this site after waxing my wife`s 2013 white Pilot. Couldn`t figure out why the wax swirls weren`t coming off. I got an education on single stage vs base/clear paints.
I had a Craftsman buffer that I tried to use and some old scratchX to try and bring it back. I`ve since acquired a PC 7424xp with lake country ccs pads and a few Meg`s microfiber pads. I really like Griot`s lineup, Meg`s, and carpro. Just picked up some d166 I`m excited to try out.
Once I get some pics hosted to a site, I`ll drop them here. Looking forward to learning something new every time I log on or see a show n shine report!!

Welcome! Wilmington is an awesome area, great weather for someone that like to spend time detailing!

It`s major pollen season here now. Those few weeks of 80 degree weather has pine trees in a tizzy. Opened up d166 and kinda smells like a chemical banana type. The wife thinks I`m weird, I have to smell each new detailing chemical

Mark,

Sounds like you are stuck down the same “rabbit hole” that we are all got stuck in.

Your Pilot looks good, I’ve come to really appreciate white cars for being “easier” to keep clean. Have you used an iron remover on your Pilot? I’m guessing you have judging by its appearance.

Welcome and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Autopians.

BTW, you aren’t weird for smelling all the products, my wife thinks the same of me.

Bob

This makes me want to cry. Low temperature of 5 degrees tonight. 12 degrees right now. I have snow banks at the end of my driveway that contain enough snow to last until the end of April:(

On a positive note, no pollen for about 45 days. I’ll be happy to see steady temps in the mid 40’s to low 50’s

I`ve used CarPro IronX and a clay towel. Clay towel definitely speeds up the process. If it makes you feel any better, we had a frost the last couple of mornings but nowhere near single digits.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
