Sealant under Wax

I've always wondered and now I have to ask, but why is it a lot of people here don't use a synthetic sealant like DG TPP 105 (for example) before applying a good carnauba wax (and reapplying it every x weeks)? Wouldn't that give you the best of both worlds, durability and shine?

I think that you would find that many of us indeed do that.

What leads you to believe that a lot of us dont?

However, some would argue that layering products is counter productive/isnt worth the extra work

+1 - I'd think most of us do top sealant with carnauba.

I've never understood this. I suppose I understand not applying multiple layers of sealant and/or carnauba, but at the end of the day, they both have clear strengths.

Eh..I don't do it. By the time my waxes degrade to the point that just refreshing them isn't sufficient, I question how healthy the underlying sealant is.

If I'm using sealants, I want to be able to refresh them/add another layer; wax toppers preclude that.

If I'm using a wax, I just don't see any advantage to an underlying sealant. When the wax needs redone I do a gentle claying and *maybe* a (functionally nonbrasive) paint cleaner.

Though topping a synthetic AIO product is *kinda* doing this anyhow, and I do that on some vehciles.
