Sealant Then Carnauba Then Sealant?

Brand new repaint: PPG/clearcoat (Platinum Metallic on an 82 911 SC) - I have the Autopia Guide to Detailing, but still have a few questions.



1. - While the paint outgasses/cures for 30 days or more, are there any do's/don'ts regarding what I use and how to wash it? I'm going to try to keep it garaged as much as I can stand not driving it (it'll return to being my daily driver once I have the paint fully protected).



2. - I've decided to use Klaase products. Do I need to use AIO on the freshly cured paint first, or can I use the pure sealant glaze right from the start.



3. - My plan is to build up many coats of the sg since I've learned that, being acrylic rather than wax based, it can be built up, layer upon layer. The question is, if at some point I want to use a carnauba wax like P21S for depth, can pure sealant glaze be used again when the carnauba has been washed away/evaporated?



4. - If yes, do I need to use AIO first to make sure the old carnauba is all gone away, and if that is the case, will using the AIO remove the numerous layers of sg that I'd applied prior to waxing it w/carnauba? In other words, does AIO bring me back to step 1 where I'll have to again build up layers of pure sg?

Put the SG on after the AIO and wait 24 hours between coats of SG. Don't put on SG after you've put on the carnauba

If you use the Werkstatt twins, Prime and Acrylic Jett (nano-acrylics), you will get the durability of AIO/SG, better ease of use and a lot more depth. You will probably end up just layering AJ and not worrying about a carnauba topper.

Based on the thread I read re Jeff's new product line & your comment, I'm going to take your suggestion and give his products a shot instead of Klaase.



However, the question of whether I need to do anything to prep the brand new fully cured paint before applying the acrylic glaze remains unanswered (or is my innate density causing me to miss something?).



Bear in mind, I'm not a pro detailer - just want to treat my ole Porsche so's it thinks I am! Here's some pic's of the little beast prior to it's respray (it's at the painter's shop now - will get it back in maybe four weeks).

Prime should be enough to prep the paint if it is swirl free. If not, I'd suggest Optimum or Menzerna polishes on Porsche paint to remove any defects.



I'd also suggest downloading the free image optimizer from www.xat.com and using that to resize your pictures. You can then upload them into your free autopia gallery and put them in your threads using the

Personally, I layer a couple of coats of AIO over a weekend, then maintain the car like usual. Every two washes I wax again, then reapply AIO every 3 months, couple of layers over a weekend.



The only mistake I've made with the AIO is when I first started using it, I would pour on a lot. Big mistake. A little goes a long way, when its time to buff off, a lot takes more work. Goodluck! Btw, sounds like a beautiful paint job.
