Sealant test over a Glaze base

For my eye, although it could be me just wanting it to look better, I see a difference on my own car with a glaze...as far as sealants go I can't tell the difference from one to another, so I go based on ease of use and durability...

Again great post, I look forward to seeing the results of what will last longer.

I haven't said much in this thread until now, but since you guys are bashing Zaino, I have to speak up.

Obviously you know nothing about proper prep. I mean look at that shiny hood you started with. How can you expect a product to improve the appearance?
Did you Dawn wash?
Did you use ZFX?
Did you remove it with 100% U.S. made cotton towels?
Do you have the requisite 40 coats on the hood?
Blue tape? Doesn't Zaino specify green tape when doing this type of comparison?
Did you call Sal?

Hey, it's an old Black truck, what did you expect, anyway.

Also, having a Meguiar's product in such close proximity probably compromised the Zaino results causing the whole test to be invalid!

:notme:

:D

Tooooo Funnnny!! :rofl

I had to wait to post because I was laughing so hard. Still am as far as that goes. Keep posting Charles, your take on this thread is....as always... refreshing.:howdy

That is a problem when doing a test on your own. I could be guilty of not wanting to see a difference just as you want to see a difference. This is purely a subjective test and in no way am I trying to be scientific in my impressions or observations. As Charles so elequently stated, "its an old black truck". But it is the best looking "old black truck" on my block.

I really enjoy the discourse that the thread should/has brought about, though.

A couple of things I appreciate about the thread and the person doing the test.
It's a lot of work and most of us don't have the patience to do it. :notme:
The results will be interesting and not biased or slanted toward any product or product line.
I also know that while the tester does like Zaino, he still seems to have an open mind towards other products. (About 20, I think.)

Thanks on all counts. :)

Why is it on a day when I want to talk detailing products, we get some people who don't know how to be serious. You know, this is a detailing board, and if you guys don't want to talk detailing, you should leave.Aand take your bimbos with you.

:D J/K that's a reference to the last chat night. ;)

Seriously Mr. Kirk, the one time I had noticed a difference in using a glaze versus not using it I was using The Wax Shop Race Glaze under NXT on my red Tacoma in about 2004 or so. I have tried several glazes since then, and just don't get anything from the extra step. Even back then, it could have been my eyes playing tricks on me.

BRB, gonna take 5 or 10 minutes and wash and vacuum my car.

When I tried the Wax Shop Race Glaze several years back I thought it was a cleaner wax even though they called it a glaze. Did/do they also have a true glaze?
FWIW, I wasn't at all impressed with the stuff I did use.

Maybe I am not getting the name quite right. I believe it to have been a glaze, although you might be right on it having cleaners, etc. It is very similar in consistency to Adam's Brilliant Spray Glaze (which I never could get to work without being a PITA mind you). And if I remember correctly, NXT was/is/did/does have some cleaners in it. Again, it may have been my eyes playing tricks on me. I seem to remember liking the Wax Shop stuff, though.

I re-washed my car 12 times today in an hour, each time I drove out of my driveway and back in pretending I was a new customer...by the tenth time I started giving my self a difficult time...I started complaining about my work...

I don't believe it anyone have a CAM that we can take pics of this ground breaking process

My interest in a glaze is to hide minor swirls not to improve the look over what a good polishing would do.
The constant pursuit of a flawless finish will eventually ruin the clear-coat.

I am of the same verb. Hence my little test.

I had a chance to take pictures of the beading on the hood. I am posting this as a reference for later comparison in this on going test.

Here is the front view.

This is after two weeks of sitting outside 24/7.

It looks pretty even, at least going by the pictures...although the beads appear larger up by the windshield...

I can't really see a difference in beading with the exception of some smaller beading on the front passenger side of the hood.

Props on the fuzzy dice. :bigups

I thought it was pretty much uniform throughout the hood.

I am noticing larger beading on the top(back) edge near the windshield on both LSP test sections. I will keep an eye on this area.

I see the smaller beading on the front passenger side but really thought it was my eye wanting to see it since it is a product favorite of mine. I am glad that you noticed it as well. I think that this is a precursor of things to come.
