sealant cure times?

Seems to me that Poorboys EX and/or EX-P are ok to top right away. I do it.

I want to be the devils advocate here .. *seems to me* = are you positive? Or just assuming it is because you do it?

I would also like to know sealant cure times..it would be helpful for us newbs to have a chart. Certain sealants and the appropriate cure times. :)

Quote: You might be confusing drying time and curing time .. 2 different things.

~One man’s opinion / observations ~

Bonding and Cross-Linking Process:

Adherence- the application of a thin even film of product to the paint film surface bonds by surface tension

Drying- the primary catalyst is an aerobic process so sufficient drying time should be allowed. This will vary in accordance with the temperature and humidity of the ambient air.

Removal- remove product residue by buffing, using a clean dry cloth and a light even pressure

Cross-link – the time required between removing residues and when the product forms a molecular bond to the paint film surface. These time requirements vary in accordance with the product formulation. Sufficient time should be allowed between removing residue and applying more layers. Polymer Acrylic – 24 to 72 hours, Carnauba wax-2 to 12 hours, Synthetic wax 12 to 36 hours, these times are a guide only as they will vary by formula, ambient air temperature and humidity.

That being said, I have the luxury of time as a non-professional

~Hope this is of some help~

When I say it seems to me it means that I am not POSITIVE. I read that on some site under some thread and wouldn't post it if it was just something I had assumed.

If you want a more professional opinion then check with Steve at Poorboys and he'll tell you.

I'm not an expert about anything and am not positive about anything anywhere or at anytime. It seems to me there are exceptions to everything especially when you are dealing with opinions which is what this is about. You'll get a different set of "facts"about anything you ask about. There is only spin and the spin you choose to accept as being your facts is still only spin...not facts. If you believe that your beliefs are the truth then you are wrong. Mine are. :)

Geez Jim .. don't get bent all out of shape...

The guy was asking about sealants/cure times and made reference to Poorboy's World EX Sealant with Carnauba

and also asked "which sealants can you top in the same day?"

Your post sort of implies its ok .. I was just checking for his sake and clairification. Hell I don't know if its ok or not nor do I really care as I don't use it. I use other brands and I pretty well stick with the minimum 24 hour rule.

And yes there is a difference between facts and opinions.. and when asking for an opinion its one thing .. but his question asked "which sealants can you top in the same day?" not which sealants *do you think* can be topped in the same day.

*do you think * is asking for an opinion.
