I was just reading something about sealing and waxing. I thought they werea lmost the same, just that a sealant was more chemical and polymer than a wax.

Whats a good sealant? Or what are some sealants, mainly on the lower end side, espc. for a newbie

There are a variety of sealants - some are pure synthetics and others are a blend of a synthetic plus wax (carnauba or bee), oils, and solvents. Zaino, Klasse, Platinum, EX, Blackfire, Detailer’s Pride, etc. are some of the sealants available.

Sealants last longer than waxes because of the type of silicone used (better bite). Dark color cars generally look better with wax, so some will seal for the protection then wax for the look on dark colors.

The best value in sealants I have found (but not tried) are here:

Diamond Plus Gallon only $22.95

Terminator Sealant $10.95-$24.95 qt.-gal.

Try them out then give us a report! :p

The only caution I have read is that new paint (60 days or less) shouldn't be sealed because the new paint solvents can't evaporate properly.
