Seagulls...scratches on car!!

One of the weirdest thing happen yesterday at work...There has been a flock of seagulls hanging around our parking lot..Nothing out of the ordinary but as i came out i noticed that the light dust that was on the car from my commute in the busy Montreal highways was clumped at several locations on my car....Upon looking closer i saw what look like birds feets on the hood..in front of the sunroof and odd enough on my driver side door..and at each location scratches in the paint..:sadpace: ..also forgetting to mention a nice huge dropping on the sunroof....

Has anyone ever experience this  I did not think this was normal behavior for birds...i didn't park anywere that was unusual or near a nest...i was beside one of my colleagues car in the middle of an asphalt parking where i always park...also there is no fast food restaurant nearby just a set of train tracks behind the back fence...

Yeah..attack of the seagulls .:chuckle: ...i told the guys at work i would look for a plastic owl on a suction cup to stick on the sunroof in hope or scraring them away...

This winter, I decided to bite the bullet and get the Zaino lineup. About a month ago, I ZPC'd, ZAIO'd and Z5/2'd. The car looked better than it ever has. At work, I have a large window that looks out onto our parking lot. My car is parked right outside the window, literally about 6 feet away from me. Anyway, I took frequent breaks to just stare out the window at my beautiful, perfect machine as it glistened in the sun. To my surprise, a grackle landed on my hood. A grackle is a large, crow-like bird. Now you know that my freshly-Zaino'd hood was slick as can be. To my horror, I watched as the grackel literally began running in place on my hood as it was attempting to find purchase on the slick surface. The grackle scrabbled with those quarter inch talons for about two minutes all over my hood, and all I could do was sit and watch! Finally, the dumba** bird actually slipped off the hood and flew away. That night, I looked at the hood under my Brinkman...what a mess! Had a happy ending, though. I re-did the process, taking a looong time working the ZPC and did manage to get about 95% of the scratches out. Sometimes, sh*t just happens!

Good luck. Where I work we have a lot of pigeons in a crane bay with a roof over it. We got a plastic owl and they just pooped all over it!

At first I thought you meant a band from the 80s! :chuckle:

It may not be as rare as you think! Driving through a mall lot last year I saw this horrifying site!

Oh I man I live on Long Island I've seen that in my pre-autopian days and thought nothing of it but now, now I am deranged with autopian-ly ways..........:grrr

Oh, and it's funny how they relax and poop on the nice car. Look at the two cars next to it that are left untouched.

I hate seagulls. I have a nutty neighbor who feeds them all the time. The city passed an ordinance against feeding seagulls just because of her and she still does it.

That's what was so weird about the whole thing. There were maybe 10 birds all aropund that MB. ANd they weren't so calm either, pecking at it, jumping up and down on the hood and roof, doing all sorts of antics... but no interest at all in any other car. it was some sight to see!

By the way, it was at Roosevelt Field.

That's what i thought would happen with the owl.:chuckle:...today they did not land on the car but made several bombing runs....i'm affaid their getting organized to use weapons of mass defection..:chuckle: ...don't know what they hate but man!! what they left behind was thick like mud..Took the car to a local touchless car wash (too far away from my garage) to get them off before they etch the paint and even with the pressure some did not come off...It almost as if they made a sort super duty stick all crud...finally got them all off with warm water from a spray bottle...and no rubbing..learn the hard way in my pre-autopian days that rubbing off bird droppings=polishing car with stones..not good..

That's weird...i'm thinking maybe it has to do with some scent in the car soap (i use megs california gold) or maybe the sealants..i had detailed the car 2 weeks ago and spent 12 hours going over every defect..to finish off with 3m glaze 05996 and 3m show car wax..maybe a chemical in those products attrack them...:nixweiss at this point maybe i should see with the Dorval airport nearby as our company parking is in direct line with the final approach path to the airport and at close proximity... maybe they will be concerned enough and send their bird control team over for a visit....

A few months ago, a seagull used his "drop and crack" technique with an oyster on my father's Honda Prelude. The worst part is, he said he helplessly watched it drop the oyster from 50+ feet right onto his car. It left a rediculous dent on his roof. I should go get a picture of that for you guys to see.
