I just recently bought this as was told it was very good. I used it on many fine scratches i have on my car but did nothing. Was wondering if i am putting on wrong or takig it off wrong.

I use ScratchX and a Microfiber. Take the X and put it on the FIber and rub over scrtach to give nice layer, let dry to paste consistancy then rub off with a nice buff.CAn anyone give me some hints here

Just curious.......... what did the directions on the tube of ScratchX say?

scratch ex should have definately taken it out. once when i was doing tinting work at a local shop the worker passes right next to the driver side door and leaves a good scratch with the plade near the handle. being calm about it, i told him i would buff it out. nothing worked when i got home and i decided to try scratchx. i just really worked in the product firmly for a while and the scratch was gone.

I have used ScratchX with success. The one thing I found out is that you really need to work it until it is almost gone. It may take a few applications to receive your desired results.

I would try a different applicator. To me, MF doesn't have quite the bite by hand needed to take out marring. Maybe try a terry towel folded up. I think that's what the directions on the tube say to use.

You cant apply S.X w/rotary or obitor? :wha

You could, but I think Meg's does NOT advise it. I think someone on here or Autopia tried it and it gummed up pretty bad on the pad. I think it's a "hand-app only" product.

Ok When was asking about NXT people were saying to do the whole car with scratchX first is it me or wouldnt this take forever, if not can anyone give me clues on how to do this on a huge scale ty

I've used Scratch X (by hand application only) on several cars that had either a nasty scratch or stained bird poop. I too made some initial mistakes using the product and was initially disappointed. Here's the method I used to successfully use the product.

1. For linear scratches: apply small amount of Scratch X to a foam applicator pad and "work" the product at a 90 degee angle to the scratch. Keep working and the product will start to dry: that's when it starts to work! I sometimes will work a scratch for 2-3 minutes in a back and forth motion, so the abrasiveness of Scratch X is doing its' job. Lightly buff with a mf towel. Once you are satisfied with the removal of the scratch, apply your favorite wax (pc or hand) and check results. For really big or long scratches, you may have to use a pc + polish to go over the entire area.

2. Bird droppings: same as above, but the angle doesn't matter (after all, it's a splat LOL).

It's definitely got a place in the detailer's arsenal.

so dont put on a little then let dry work it in

Not quite: put a little on the applicator pad and work it in while it is drying (similar to using DACP on a pc). Keep working it until you've almost wiped it completely away...then check your work and re-apply if necessary.
