Scratches in Chrome.

My dad was using a low quality towel to polish the chrome on his bike. This put some light spiderweb like scratches in it. I can run my fingernail over them smoothly so the are not to deep. Any advice on how to remove these from the chrome?

I've never been able to remove scratches from chrome...chromium is one very hard material. Over the last 20-some years I've worn the chrome *off* some parts of the Jag, but I never got the scratches out :(

Kinda have to ditto Accumulator. The only chance one might have for some slight micromarring is jewelers rouge and a felt pad. This is not for the novice though.

Especially if the chrome is of unknown quality. That chrome that's worn off the Jag? Well, the car only has 18K miles on it and the chrome was worn off a long tme ago! Had I taken a felt wheel and some rouge to it I woulda been down to the base metal in no time.

I kinda see that a lot with aftermarket chrome. Surprisingly I never have a problem with Harley chrome.

I have had aftermarket pipes that Never-Dull removed the chrome it was so cheap and thin. ( They were in bad shape (heat) and customer was aware this may happen)

3Dog, I'm putting togeather a new '07 Street Glide. All black. Can you recommend a good polish/wax. Bike will be shown more then rode (well almost). The bike is alway's covered and California Duster used before putting it away. Thx in advance, Rich

P.S. I'm leaning towards Klasse AIO

Oh, and speaking of Klasse AIO. I have found that it work's awesome on chrome..

Yep, but I top it (KSG or wax) so I don't have to redo it for a good long while.

3Dog- I was sorta surprised at the chrome wear on the Jag, but then they weren't exactly known for their build-quality back in the mid-80s ;) and my XJS is a *real* "Monday/Friday car" anyhow :(

I would go with Werkstatt before Klasse. Topping with a wax after that would be a personal preference.
