Scratches and Zaino

I'm new to the site. I have a Daytona Blue 350Z which I clayed and washed with Dawn. I now have approximately 25 coats of Z2 (and another 4 or 5 of Z5), with each coat followed with Z6. My car sparkles.

However, I have a few little marks on the surface (not through the paint) that I would like to remove the best way possible. What should I use, that would not affect adversely all the Zaino work I have done?

Should I use Zymol Heavy Duty Cleanse? 3M IHG? Vanilla Moose?

After polishing out the surface defect, what protocol should I use?

As you might expect, I am EXTREMELY concerned about the appearance of my car!

Thanks for your help. I love this site! :D

After using the "search" mode, I see there apparently is no hard and fast answer as to how spot repairs of Zaino should be attempted. I note that Sal Zaino does not believe IHG or SMR should be used under Zaino, as they will impair "bonding."

Is it the general consensus that using IHG or GPEC on small, slight defects, and then cleaning the area well with Z6 or Z7, will allow you to begin stacking Z layers appropriately over the repaired area?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, your theory is correct, but I see potential for one problem: the area you "repair" may end-up being more "jetted" or "deeper" looking than the rest of the car.

I'd suggest using the mildest repair product/combo you can (and still repair the areas), then do a complete Z7 wash, and then start layering the Z on again.

I have multi-layered Zaino on Jet Black paint and have done many spot repairs. As Steve said, use the mildest repair product/combo you can and still repair the areas. Then to remove the residual oils wipe with a Z-7 solution, wipe again with Z-6, and top with Zaino.

Good luck and have fun!
