Scratched removed with Ultimate Compound...

I have noticed on my silver 330i that the Z5 seems to give a much deeper shine than the Z2. Is there any harm in always using the Z5? There are no swirls. Thanks.

Interesting, I may have to give the Z-5 a try. I have a bottle of this stuff but didn't plan on using it as I really don't have any swirls at all. Or perhaps I should say that they are not noticeable.

I just looked at my silver 330i under my carport and it looked much better than it has ever before. I previously had about 10 coats of Z2. I may switch to Z5 exclusively now. It figures that it cost twice as much as Z2.

Hi Don,

The Z5 produces a very high level of gloss. My last four coats have been Z5. I re-Z1ed before the last coat of 5. Hard to believe the depth could still improve. It did.

I have stated before that I use Z5 exclusively now. Besides giving a more reflective shine (IMO) it fills swirls and small scratches without the use of abrasives. If you have a daily driver parked outdoors 360 24/7 you can't help from getting some scratches and swirls from environmental conditions.

Z5 and Z2 are supposed to be equally durable.

I did this black Audi yesterday, turned out really nice. This morning the owner was at the store and when he came back out this was on the side of the car:

Not sure how it happened, there isnt a ding so I dont think someone opened their door on it. Maybe a lady rubbed up against it with her purse or something, who knows. The owner was more concerned with how I was going to remove it. It also appeared to be more of a scuff than an actual scratch.

I used Meguiars Ultimate Compound by hand along with a yellow foam applicator pad. I then followed that with M66 Quick Detailer on the G110 to remove the slight hazing UC left behind.

I think I was able to completly remove it. I looked from a couple of different angles and up close, as well as under the sun. The owner was very pleased since this would have taken away from the overall detail.

Looks good Nick.

As for parking lots..... Never park a car that you care anything about in a parking lot!!! Parking lots are for BEATERS ONLY!!!

Learned that lesson early in life. Many undeserved dings, scrapes and dents.:banghead::mad::banghead::mad::banghead:

Yep, you are spot on Bill.

Last year I was at Walmart and it was a pretty windy day, I parked my truck on the side of the store, not too far away but not too close to other cars.

I come out of the store about twenty minutes later, just in time to see this really fat lady park her piece of junk 1990 something Honda right next to my truck and then slam the door open so hard that she scratches and practically rips the black plastic molding off the mirror of my truck.

At first I almolst couldnt believe it and had to recollect myself. I had a few choice words for her but other than that I just wanted to get out of there, I would rather pay for it myself than stand there and deal with that fat pig.

sorry for ranting Bill, I get enraged whenever I think about it. :cursing:

Yep I detailed my friends car last week, he parked at the grocery store the next day and someone graciously scraped his car from the middle of the door all the way back to the wheel well with their bumper (I think). With a little M105 and some elbow grease, I managed to remove all the scratches and paint transfer, but it left a bunch of little dents. Sucks as the car was looking really good.

Awesome job on the repair. It seems that people just don't respect other people's stuff anymore. I make sure I park far away from everyone.

Good results. Ultimate Compound is a lot better compound than people give it credit for.

As for parking in lots - Bill has it nailed. Don't care where you park - timbuktu or in the fire lane - you're going to get it at some time. I saw a shopping cart roll all the way across a mostly empty lot once and come to a quick stop against the side of a vehicle parked out there all by itself. Owner thought it was a good idea I am sure.
