Scratched Console Plastic - Repairable?

The center console on my 1995 Cutlass is black plastic. It's got some minor scratches that I would like to hide, if not remove.

Anyone have any ideas on how to go about this? I was thinking of trying black paint, but before I do that, I thought I'd check to see if someone else has had to solve this problem, too.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can share.
 
I've read good feedback on Meg's PlastX and Mothers Plastic Polish for removing problems. I haven't had a chance to use either yet.

And I was pleased with PlastX's performance on my plastic-covered electronic dash panel. I'd put in a long scratch while attempting to dust it. The PlastX "removed" the scratch and I can't tell where it is now....

I will always recoment novus. It's by far the best system i've used. Pro Polish should get it if it's not to deep all by itself tho.
